Jikan Test Drive MemeMinimize
You've seen this before. The thought strikes suddenly, during whatever it is you were doing. Having an important conversation? Running away from home? Dying in the midst of a fierce battle? Where ever you are, one things is true: you're certain this isn't the first time you've lived through this. But upon realizing this, that's when it happens. Like someone hitting rewind on the VCR, you're back where you were ten minutes ago. And it happens again. And again. And again--Until finally, something is different. A door stands in front of you. Will you go through it? Nothing else seems to be working, so this might be your only chance.

Upon opening the door and heading inside, a strange feeling overwhelms you. It's comforting and warm, like being enveloped in a soft, heavy blanket. You hear a voice murmuring in your ear, but it's unintelligible.
And in the next moment, you've appeared in front of a mysterious stone shrine in the middle of a forest, surrounded by the unfamiliar yet worried faces of fox-like humans in red and white robes, speaking in a foreign language that doesn't sound so foreign to you anymore.
Maryouku University

There isn't much time to process what's happening before characters are transported to the nearby Maryouku University. All injuries are completely healed, and those under mental duress will have a powerful soothing spell cast on them to calm them down. Their every need is met: food is offered, and questions are answered. "You've arrived in the Western Kingdom of Nippon, on a planet called Gaia," they explain. "When you became aware of the timeloop, we... well, let us explain."
Orientation Maryouku University, Kyoto
Everyone is brought to a large auditorium, where dozens of other people looking similarly out of place are seated around them. The Kitsune Yokai from before filter on stage, as well as a number of humans and other Yokai in labcoats. And after a brief introduction, they begin to explain. What they experienced back home was a timeloop. While the loops in their home worlds are smaller and likely to resolve on their own, the fact that such a small amount of time is being repeated is what makes them so dangerous for those who become aware of it. And they've been working around the clock, checking adjacent universes for others who've become aware. While the technical explanations may go over the heads of most, that's not the reason they were all brought together like this. "In order to bring you here, we used the very same magic responsible for freeing our world... Kizuna."
And they continue to explain: their own world was trapped in a year long loop for decades, if not longer. Through the use of an ancient form of bonding magic, they bound their world to the present flow of time, allowing it to progress past the timeloop. Or at least, that's how they thought it worked. In truth, Kizuna is very powerful reality-warping magic. And thanks to the powerful bond all refugees now share with the country of Nippon, the magic surrounding them will only continue to evolve.
Until a means of resuming the flow of time back in their home world is found, they'll just have to make due with this one. But not to worry, because Nippon is fully committed to taking care of the refugees!
A Brand New Home Kyoto, Kansai
Once orientation is over, characters will be allowed to choose housing in both Kyoto and Tokyo, enabling them the means of easily living between both cities if they please. These housing options will be fully paid for by the government of Nippon, with the NRL and MRU providing a stipend for food expenses in Tokyo and Kyoto respectively.
In lieu of providing transportation, all refugees will be granted an unlimited rail pass that they can use to travel all across Nippon, with express routes connecting the two kingdoms. Additionally, teleportation terminals exclusively for Refugees can be found at the NRL and MRU, allowing instant travel between Tokyo and Kyoto. While this TDM and its prompts are focused on the Western Kingdom, you are welcome to have your character arrive in the Eastern Kingdom instead.
At the Kiyomizu Temple in Higashiyama, preparations are underway for a festival coming at the end of the month. Refugees will be invited to create a special mask to wear for the duration of the festival, and they'll find craft booths offering free supplies for custom mask making. The masks must reflect their inner self, and there's limitless supplies provided to bring their creations to light. It seems these are going to be really important later, so don't just half-ass it, okay?
In Gion, the local bars have begun offering a seasonal beer called Momiji-ru that comes in a unique red color to match the autumn leaves as they begin to change. Although low in alcohol content, those who drink it will be afflicted by a spell that causes them to see autumn leaves falling around anyone they're "fated" to be with. The accuracy of the spell is up for debate, but those who see another person blanketed in a drizzle of red and orange leaves will feel compelled to reach out and get to know them!
In Uji, MRU's Student Council is organizing an autumn leaf viewing party, and all students and Refugees alike are invited. Bundled up in warm sweaters and sitting on large picnic blankets, the party will include good food and warm drinks while celebrating the autumn season under the colorful leaves. Some have even taken to gathering the leaves up into piles and jumping in! Just make sure that when you jump, someone else isn't already lounging in the pile.
NRL Time Refugee Support Network
Once they've received their housing assignment, all refugees will be given small handheld devices called magi-tech comms, or magi-comms for short. They're heavier than a conventional smartphone would be, but far sturdier, and powered by the ambient magic that flows through the city. They don't need to be charged, but they won't work outside of cities at all. Upon booting it up, they'll find a message linking them to a special channel for refugees.
#nrl_time_refugee_support - online
Use the following code for your top-level if you'd like! This is how network communication will look for characters in the game until more advanced magi-tech comms become available for characters.
Full Moon Festival

The Refugees are likely still recovering from last month's infiltration of Shikoku. But time stops for no one, and as the month of October rolls around, so too does a certain festival that those who were present last year may remember.
Starting on October 1st, the Tsukimi Festival is held every night after sundown for the next two weeks all across Nippon. Long ago, the gods gifted Gaia an enchanting string of pearls that entwined the planet, lighting up the night sky. However, the greed of mortals seeking power led them to fight over the pearls. As wars waged, the pearls would be shattered in the conflict, until only one remained. Seeing the way their gift was tarnished, the gods decided that those on Gaia would only be allowed to see the pearl in all its glory for part of the month, taking it away for the other half. This became the cycles of the moon, and the shattered remains of the other pearls formed the ring around the planet that is always visible in the night sky.
So what makes October so special? For this month only, the full moon will be completely visible for the first full two weeks of the month, never visibly waxing nor waning. But what happens after two weeks...? Well, you'll just have to wait and see!
Moon in the Water Narashi, Nara
Given the name of the festival, it should come as no surprise that the chief activity performed during the festival is simply observing the moon with good company and plenty of food every night. Its radiance will only grow brighter as the festival continues, the light reflecting off the ring that surrounds Gaia and causing it, too, to glow every night, occasionally releasing rainbow-colored bursts of magical energy only visible during Tsukimi.
For the best views, Sarusawa Pond in Nara's Narashi Ward is widely considered to be the optimal location for moon-viewing parties, located on a patch of artificial land high up in the tree canopies. Food and drink stalls can be found lining the pathways that circle the pond, and with the backdrop of a five-story pagoda lit up by moonlight, it's also known as one of the most romantic spots in Nara.
But while there are plenty of places to sit and gaze up at the moon on the shore, the real celebrations occur on small boats that sit silently upon the water. Only allowed to sail at a certain hour before sundown, those hoping for a proper moon-viewing best board early. And once the boat has parked on the pond, a Mizu spell is used to still the water, causing a mirror-like image of the moon and the stars above to reflect upon its pristine surface.
But aside from being very beautiful, there are a number of superstitions associated with this practice. It's said that one should never stare at their own reflection in the water, or else they may see their reflection begin to twist and mutate into a monster. While limited to just their reflection, the effects of this spell may cause erratic or animal-like behavior when standing in the moonlight, with some becoming prone to acting on their every impulse, no matter how rash. It's not uncommon for at least one party-goer to make the mistake of staring too long, before throwing themselves in the shallow pond and thrashing about wildly. Unfortunately, the effects of this will linger until the festival ends on the 14th. Better bring an umbrella for tomorrow's Tsukimi!
A Drop in Time Kainan, Wakayama
Those looking for a more quiet festival experience look no further than the Kainan Ward of Wakayama. Just south of Osaka, this neighborhood of mostly Kitsune is among the most urban in Wakayama, but still rather small when compared to metropolitan cities like Kyoto or Tokyo. Most of the residents commute to the nearby Osaka for work.
Unlike other cities, whose chief form of transportation is steam trains, Kainan is connected by a complex web of cable cars that weave across the Kainan skyline. One line in particular is known for being the most scenic, as it crosses directly in front of Kainan's port, giving a beautiful view of the ocean. And for the duration of Tsukimi, all lights have been turned off as the cable car passes by, allowing for a brilliant view of the moon reflected upon the water. Even the planet's ring can be seen glowing on the ocean waves' surface.
But on certain nights, those who look out into the ocean will witness something peculiar.
Just beyond the port of Kainan lies a series of strange ruins of unknown origin, believed to have to appeared from a future timeline during a particularly powerful time surge many years ago. Although filled with seemingly futuristic technology, much of it has broken down and has always been unusable since the ruins first appeared. But those who look out onto the coast on certain days will watch as the ruins come to life and begin lighting up, before suddenly exploding.
The explosion will spread over the entire city, fiery hot clouds of smoke and debris shaking the cable car violently, and causing it to swing back and forth with those inside trapped in darkness. A loud buzzing sound will fill the air, and then--
And then the cable car simply pulls into the station, as if none of it ever happened. Some of those on board may believe they were just dreaming. But in any case, this probably wasn't the quiet and romantic experience they were hoping for.
Wish Upon a Fish Kumamoto, Kyushu
Those looking for a more remote locale to experience the festival need only hop onto a teleport terminal at MRU and make their way to Kyushu. Connected to the Ao Oni city of Kumamoto, most of the celebrations will be taking place at Suizenji Park, where a beautiful traditional garden surrounds a large pond filled with colorful koi fish.
But as beautiful as the garden is, the koi fish themselves are the stars of the show, as they're actually a rare species of Ayakashi called Nijizakana. Known as the aptly named rainbow fish Ayakashi, these fish grant powerful blessings when touched by the light of the moon. And during Tsukimi, the effects of these blessings manifest tenfold, with the effects differing based on which color dominates the Nijizakana's shimmering scales.
To receive a blessing, one must offer the Ayakashi a special treat, given at various booths surrounding the pond.Feeding the red Nijizakana will give blessings of love, causing someone nearby to fall in love with them, or at the very least, develop a very strong crush that may linger for months.
Feeding the yellow Nijizakana will give blessings of wealth, which will transforms the pebbles beneath their feet into solid gold, which can be exchanged for a large sum of money at the same booths offering the treats.
Feeding the green Nijizakana will give blessings of magic, and in refugees, this will enable them to immediately master any one of the four basic elements of magic in Nippon permanently.
Feeding the blue Nijizakana will give blessings of foresight, giving them a brief glimpse into the near future with a degree of accuracy that far outperforms typical prophetic magic in Nippon.
Considering how many fish live in the pond, it can be hard to guarantee which fish eats the treat. Traditionally, trying your luck by throwing a handful of treats into the water is said to bring the best results. But given the risks, most refugees will likely only offer one at a time.
OOC Notes
Welcome to Jikan's October TDM! The TDM is considered game canon, and also serves as the intro log! That said, whether you choose to carry threads over to the game or not is up to you!
• Current players are more than welcome to top-level, or take prompts from the TDM and use for their own logs! This may change in the future depending on how busy TDMs become.
• CRAU characters may start regaining their CRAU memories one month after the TDM. However, vague feelings of familiarity are allowed between previous game CR! For more on this, please read the FAQ!
• You do not need to sign-up for housing! Choose whichever style you prefer, in both Kyoto and Tokyo. Roommates can be chosen by the characters or can be random. If you want to switch housing later, your character has the option of moving at the beginning of each month.
• The full moon will be visible in the night sky from everywhere in Nippon for the first two weeks of October. While Tsukimi celebrations can be found everywhere, the sister festival to this one is unique to the Western Kingdom, and will be explained in more detail in the event later in the month.
• Characters who have their reflection mutated by the pond's spell will retain a monster-like appearance when they look into a mirror or reflective surface until the festival ends on the 14th. This effect is for their reflection only.
• Similarly, whether their reflection becomes monstrous in a frightening way, or monstrous in a sexy way, is completely up to you. The change can be subtle or dramatic, and those around them will be able to see the changes if they look into a mirror together!
• The effects of the red Nijizakana can be permanent or temporary. The future the blue Nijizakana shows can either be in Nippon or back in their home world beyond their current canon point.
• Characters can only master one element of magic from the Green Nijizakana no matter how many times they feed it. This effect is similar to Gojira's Blessin, in that characters will need to learn that they have mastered the element in question, and will still need to learn individual spells to use them properly.
Please leave any questions about the TDM prompts in the thread below! General game questions can be directed to the FAQ!

Basically could someone continue to pull from the Nijizakana gacha until they get the blessing they want? (And deal with the consequences of getting the 'wrong' blessing in the process LMAO.)

Edogawa Ranpo | Bungo Sungo Dungo
Hey! Watch where you're jumping!
[Although this pile of leaves looked perfect for jumping into, turns out it was occupied! Ranpo is all curled up in the leaves, the stick of a lollypop hanging out of his mouth (and probably making his words a but more garbled). Judging by the blanket and sticks tucked around him here and there, he must have created a small blanket fort and covered it with the leaves as... camouflage, perhaps?]
Look, I had the perfect fort all set up down here and you ruined it! Now you have to help me fix it!
2 | Glass Pond
[Ranpo's memories of Nippon were still coming back in bits and pieces, but it didn't bother him too much. But this month, he's certain there's something important he's forgetting. Was there something bad about this month? He's not sure.]
[In any case, he's enjoying the myriad of festivals. Right now, he's having a snack and leaning back on one of the boats in the middle of the pond, feet kicked up onto a chair as he looks up at the sky. But when someone else starts getting closer to the edge of the boat to look down at the water, perhaps unaware of the superstition, he speaks up--]
I wouldn't do that if I were you.
3 | Leaf Me Alone
[Ranpo doesn't have a taste for alcohol (yet), so he's perfectly content with sipping a sweet soda and ignoring the seasonal beer, even if the promise of magical effects is a little intriguing.]
[He's here mostly for the cheap snacks during happy hour, but if he spies someone else drinking alone and appearing a bit lonely for it, he'll simply grab his things and move over to where they're sitting without even asking if they'd like the company.]
[But should they be drinking one of those autumn beers, they might just find that Ranpo is covered in a shower of red and gold leaves.]
Hey, have you tried the gyoza here? It's the best in Gion I've found so far, and they give you so much on just one plate! I don't typically make a habit of sharing, so you should take advantage of this rare opportunity!
4 | Wish on a Fish
[Ranpo doesn't see too much merit in feeding the Nijizakana, but when he sees a group of what look like mostly green fish, he opts to dump a whole bag into the water and see what'll happen.]
[Nothing does, of course, because it's hard to see someone suddenly becoming capable of using more magic.]
[But what does happen is someone else happens to feed a red Nijizakana instead -- and when Ranpo spies them from across the pond, his heart skips a beat.]
[This feeling............. is he hungry, maybe?]
[Well, maybe this person giving him the ol' doki-doki would be interested in a lunch date! So he bounds over, smiling brightly. He's never asked someone on a date before, but it can't be that hard, right?]
Say, ever had lunch with a master detective? Probably not, right? So we should change that!
[Thankfully this spell will be temporary (please contact me if you'd be interested in a long-term thing!) but at least Ranpo is a fairly harmless choice for a lovesick puppy.]

It didn't take long at all for him to head over to Kyushu, eyes lighting up once he'd seen the pond filled with the various koi fish. Maybe he was just a bit too excited, like a child but he really couldn't help it. There was a bounce to his step as he made his way to one of the booths, buying one of the special treats and heading back to the pond.
Atsushi made sure to move closer and put out a small handful, waiting somewhat patiently for a fish to come closer... and sure enough? One of the red ones came closer to eat what he'd put out and he couldn't help but smile a little. Just the experience alone was something else and he'd cherish it, though a part of him wished more of the ADA were here with him to experience this. He then shook his head, not wanting that thought to tarnish anything up until he'd heard footsteps approaching and then the accompanying voice. ]
R-Ranpo-san??
[ Forgive his surprise. This is the first time he's seen him so it's a bit to take in, not even initially counting what the older man had even said to him. ]
Lunch? Oh.. uh... okay. Sure, why not?

Lilja | OC
a. Mask creation
[She's always liked masks, really. People tend to think of them as some measure to hide oneself, but... is that really true? A mask is, ultimately, a part of yourself. A part you're detached from, a part you want to highlight... the purpose of a mask varies so much that it's laughably narrow-minded to think it only has one, negative meaning, isn't it?
In any case, Lilja can be found in deep concentration, painting slow, elegant lines over her mask or adorning it with small decorative pieces. intricate jewelry dangles over it, nearly swaying into the space but expertly pulled back.]
b. After creating a mask
[Once she's finished making her own mask, Lilja can be found wandering about the workshop, stopping whenever she spots someone whose mask she finds interesting. Or hideous. Hideous is interesting, right? If you're struggling with a mask, you might just find yourself approached by the beaming lady, her hands laced together and torso leaned forward.]
Need a little help, hon?
II. Gion; Leafy Meetings
[It's been a while, honestly, since she's been able to enjoy a good beer. Most days at home, it always felt like something was going wrong or she had to be in fifty different places at once. Sure, being around Amorette made it all worth it, but no amount of warm feelings could make it any less dreadful. As a result, she's quite happy to try a glass of Momiji-ru, enjoying the taste and the sensation of it. Thereafter, she's quick to approach anyone who does show up with those red and orange leaves - not because she believes in such silly hocus-pocus, mind you, but because... well, she's fairly social when it comes down to it.
As such, if not interrupted during her own drink, she'll sidle right up to whoever she pleases, offering a friendly smile and a hum.]
Hey cutie, up for a chat?
III. Wildcard
[Don't see anything you like? Feel free to HMU to plot, or just drop a wildcard starter! Lil's pretty friendly, often a little flirty but aware of discomfort in such. She can be found doing all kinds of things, from viewing the mirror-lake to feeding the Nijizakana. She can also be found staring into her reflection with a displeased look on her face, after spending too long looking at it before.]

If he's honest, he strongly dislikes wearing things on his head, but he's always willing to try new things at least once, especially in a new, unfamiliar land. But...
Rhea'li looks up at the woman and his expression softens, grateful for the offer of assistance.]
Aye, if you've the mind to assist, I would be most grateful.
[A wry smile.]
Simply... reflecting and expressing my inner self is proving more difficult than I anticipated.

Though she's mostly nursing her drink as she sips from it, eyes absently focused on her cup before the sound of someone approaching catches her attention. Golden eyes blinking up at the other woman and the... leaves falling around her? And did she call her cutie???
But Lapis is never one to turn down a conversation, weird magic leaves or not, and maybe a part of her is a little giddy at a really pretty lady calling her cute. So she manages to ease her expression into a soft smile, warm despite the brevity of it. ]

Not too unusual a thing, really, when he thinks about it.
But he's mostly being left alone, perhaps owing to the faint air of intimidation he tends to give off at all times whether deliberately or not, and it doesn't occur to him immediately that Lilja is speaking to him. If only in part because no one dares call him 'cute' except his brother.]

What memory is she reliving? Is it the destruction of Khaenri'ah and the subsequent fight that separated her from her brother? Or is it something farther back--another city on another world, engulfed in flames as two tiny survivors flee for their lives?

[How many times has this happened now? Between Zhongli and Lumine constantly shuffling in and out, he's pretty much accepted the odd cyclical natural of the comings and goings of this world. So he figured it was only a matter of time before he saw Childe again. Still, he finds himself a little surprised that he feels an ache in his chest, nonetheless.]
[Still, he doesn't know whether he'll be treated as a complete stranger or simply an old friend, so the way he approaches is casual and nonchalant--]
[Or at least, as casual as he can when the cat tail behind him is wagging like crazy because yes: he is happy to see him again. It's practically vibrating. Embarrassing tbh.]

something fishy if i'm not too late!
And she would have been just about to toss some treats in, hoping a green one would eat it! Before she could do anything though, the fish hastily gather on one part of the pond, thrashing around and splashing water out of it and onto people nearby, Ayaka included. While inconvenient? She finds herself mesmerised, if only because that's... a wide variety of fish all eating treats! Goodness... the person who threw those in is bound to be blessed!

muscleman: Would anyone happen to have seen a moody guy? Looks like he would cut you open and eat your liver while you watch?
muscleman: I'm looking for him. If you could point him to me that would be great. Thank you.
Food Stalls
One thing Pete was? Hungry. He'd been wandering around awhile and now it was more than time to eat. So he looked through the different stalls until he found several skewers he wanted to try. It almost felt like some kind of superhero to have them all between his fingers.
Checking left then right, he made sure no one was watching then started making swishing noises as he moved his hand around like it had claws with food on it. At least until he turned to find someone standing there. Eyes wide, he quickly shoved some meat in his mouth then offered one of the skewers. Smiling with a mouth still full, he tried to pretend he hadn't been doing what he was doing.
"Wan' one?"
Feeding the Fish
Why not feed the fish? It was a task he was pretty used to from his old life as a bodyguard. Whenever his boss had been having one of his...moments it had been his job to make sure the precious fish didn't perish. So he happily bought something to feed them and stopped before the yellow ones. Dropping the food in, he gave a nod.
"Eat well. It's yummy."
Then he realized what was at his feet. Gold! Gasping in surprise, he knelt down to see if they were even real!

Hythlodaeus | FFXIV
Hythlodaeus is a man who deeply appreciates creativity and artistry, so he naturally gravitates towards the mask-making booths. Being given a blank mask of his own to decorate, however, has made him feel a bit hesitant. He’s come up with a few concepts in his time, of course, but his main job is to examine others’ work, not invent his own. Plus, he’s much more used to a society that favors conformity in appearance than this culture does; though he’s not upset about abandoning such rules, it still feels like a rather sudden leap to take so soon after his unexpected arrival. In order to ease himself in a little, he delays work on his mask, instead wandering the booths to peak over people’s shoulders at their projects. When he’s caught (he’s not really trying to hide it), he gives them an embarrassed smile.
“This is the one I usually wear,” he says, briefly touching the half-mask hanging from a cord around his neck. “But I suppose it’s a bit too plain for this sort of event, isn’t it?”
[Moon in the Water]
Well, if he’s going to be stranded in this strange world for an indeterminate amount of time, he might as well take part in its traditions. Not that he really needs an excuse to drink and be merry - ! So Hythlodaeus is definitely on one of the boats heading out for the moon viewing on the third night, drink in hand. He chats easily with both locals and fellow time refugees as they sail out, and has to be pointed to the reflection once it comes time for the viewing, so engrossed in conversation is he. He will at least fall silent for the event, gazing peacefully out at the water, entranced at its beauty.
“What a truly charming festival,” he says at last, as he leans against the railing of the boat. “I’ve missed attending such spectacles, I will admit. Things back home have been - well, uneventful is not quite the right word for it -“
Unfortunately, as he muses, his eyes start to drift away from the reflection of the heavens and end up landing on his own face in the water. He thinks nothing of it at first, continues talking, until he realizes with a start that it’s changing.
He cuts himself off with a little yelp, jumping away from the railing as though it were suddenly on fire.

She blinks once, and stares up at the figure that she's bumped into. A familiar feeling once again spreading through her body when she catches a glimpse of this person. Unsure why he felt familiar, since she's never met him before? But still, she gets onto her feet, and laughs to herself. Fingertips patting away the dust, and dirt that got onto her clothes.
"Oh! Sorry about that! I wasn't really paying attention to where I was walking. You okay?"
once again hyth is on his butt in front of a cute lady

... At least she's being 'rescued' by someone cute. There's a sharp buzz, a bare and frustrating sound, and then... that's it. They're parked, Ana's letting her go, no one's acting like anything happened at all. Huh.]
You know, I'm not sure. Some kind of explosion, by the noise... but it almost looks as though we were the only ones who experienced it, doesn't it?
[Her gaze flicks to Ana then, a helpless shrug of her shoulders following suit with a wry smile. The horrible laugh isn't that big a deal either. She's used to much worse, much more dangerous laughs really. This one just seems more incredulous than anything.]
Azem | Final Fantasy XIV
Donned in black robes with their mask hanging around their neck, Azem explores the city. Walking around the city isn’t easy as they’re at their full seventeen and a-halfish-foot height, but it certainly does give them a better vantage of things. It is rather inconvenient as the city certainly isn’t made for someone their size, however, they’re finding it difficult to maintain a form as small as those around them.
They occasionally stop to ask questions about a building or something they’ve seen. Or to apologize for nearly stepping on someone. Though they’re more likely to be stopped by someone else
WISH UPON A FISH (pick your poisson)
At some point Azem has managed to retain a small form, thus making interacting with everyone and everything much easier. They’ve been enjoying the festivities, finding them interesting and a perfect chance to learn more about the people of this land.
Hearing that the fish have magical properties, Azem can’t help but take an interest. They observe for a short while before finally deciding to give things a try. They see quite a few people tossing in a handful of food so why not do as they do? They grab a handful and carelessly toss it into the pond and watch to see which fish happen to eat the offering.
WILDCARD
[ Gimme whatever. ]
Exploration
Listen. Watch. Learn. He'd cared less and less about that as time went on, but the end of his duty has lifted the terrible weight off his shoulders. No-one gives him a second glance as he dons the communal garb of his people; just about everyone is wearing some sort of mask today. He quietly walks through the crowds and soon comes to understand roughly what tonight's festivities are about.
A disturbance up ahead draws his gaze. It's impossible to miss the giant walking amongst everyone else, but what stops him in his tracks is their face. It can't be them...can it?
Without thinking, he looks past the material realm into the aetherial as his feet pick up the pace and bear him towards the giant. He could never mistake the colour of Azem's soul, even as his logical mind refuses to believe it. Eventually, he finds himself standing before them slightly out of breath - he hadn't realised he'd been running.

Princess Mipha | Breath of the Wild
[While there was a slight urge to want to be alone, she's self-aware enough to know that she only wants it for her own grief. She was used to communal living, so choosing one of the shared houses seemed the best bet.
She certainly wasn't expecting it to look so... run down. But it's sort of quaint, in a way. She stares up at the building and the driver that delivered her there gives her a slightly nervous look. Uncertain if it's because of what she is (clearly not human) or because he's worried she'll disapprove, Mipha gives him a reassuring little smile and speaks gently.]
It's perfect. Thank you.
[She turns back to the home and goes in search of picking a bedroom for herself, propping her trident in the corner, before she goes out to explore the rest of the home. There's... sure a lot of work to be done, but Mipha takes a deep breath and begins to clear out some of the debris from one of the sitting areas, determined to get things cleaned up.
And to take the time to sort through her thoughts while she works. As such, she might not be totally aware that someone else is coming in until she turns and sees them in the doorway or something, making her drop what she's holding with a soft] Oh! [of surprise.]
B. Moon in the Water
[The good thing about being aquatic like she is is that she doesn't have to worry about catching one of the boats so early. She enjoys swimming far beneath the pond and staring up, watching the moon from the other side of the water.
Still, she's not entirely keen on being trapped in it once that spell goes up. Debating on what to do might keep her underneath it for too long so she surfaces quickly, leaping out of the water and landing on one of the boats. She might sprays some water everywhere but she smiles sheepishly as she holds her hands up in a 'I come in peace' fashion] My apologies. I didn't mean to intrude. Might I watch the moon with you here?
C. A Drop in Time
[She's quiet as she sits in her corner of the cable car, tying not to draw more attention to herself than necessary. While there are many different types wandering around, Mipha's appearance can still garner some odd glances. As such, she's donned a cloak to try and hide most of her body.
It's better than nothing and she's been able to relax and enjoy the view, content to be a fly on the wall with whoever else is in the car. At least, until the explosion rocks everything.
With a yelp Mipha falls from her seat and hits the ground with a soft 'oof' of pain, her hood falling back and cloak sliding awkwardly; but it's not very important right now as she pushes herself off, frowning in concern] What in the world was that? Are you alright?
D. Wildcard!
[Find Mipha swimming through any body of water, sleeping in the bathtub, whatever! Fingerguns]
B!
Oh-- of course! Actually, you have great timing! Paimon was about to look over the edge, and I was afraid she'd see her reflection before I could stop her.
[The little fairy pouts, wringing water out of her hair. "Hey, Paimon wasn't going to look at Paimon! Paimon just saw something under the water-- and it was a person!"]
Do you, uh... need a towel?

Wish Upon a Fish
The dyed blond Thailand born man has an oversized, white track suit on with a silver chain necklace, dangling hoop earrings, and painted lips tosses a treat into the pond. Tay sighs unhappily as the treat for that pretty red fish gets gobbled up by a yellow one instead.
His gaze travels down to the ground where gold pebbles appear and his eyes widen in surprise. He bends down to pick them up, but there's a bittersweet edge to his smile.
"New world, same luck," he murmurs softly to himself.

Noah LeClair | Original |
Higashiyama – Mask a silly question
[ It was a good thing they used that spell to calm him because Noah was incredibly far from that. Aside from having to suddenly live the same five hours several times, he was suddenly in another world of all things, if they hadn’t let him try to go back he’d never believe it, but here he was. Confused and alone in a strange land, strange folks, strange environs. Overwhelmed doesn’t begin to describe the turmoil in his chest, but he wasn’t about to let this get him down. Even if he’s not sure which foot to start walking with, as long as one goes in front of the other he’ll be a-okay.
The first place his feet led him was Higashiyama where he learned of a festival and the need for a mask. ‘Sound like fun’ he said and incorrectly assumed he could just pick up a mask. Imagine the look on his face when he was brought to a stall with all sort of materials and tools. Unfazed by the surprise he got to work, giving it the good college try. ]
S’cuse me, beggin’ your pardon! Uhhh…[ He falters a bit, looking back at the stall after pouring what felt like a solid hour and half over his mask. ] Right, well, I was told that, uhhh, a mask was needed for the festival that’s happenin’. Just wanted to get someone opinion, I’m a little rusty with the arts and crafts, but –
[ He holds up a mask made out of carboard and effort. ]
- d’you reckon it looks like a sparrow? I hope so. Don’t want to make a fool out of meself already.
Gion – Beer-ly Beloved
M-Mo-Mu-M- oh, blimey. And here I thought the names couldn’t get any harder to say, but cheers, torch!
[ Despite his inability to say the name, he was still given a pint of beer to enjoy. The color was enticing even if the alcohol itself wasn’t to his preferred strength, but it did certainly match the atmosphere and even someone like him could appreciate that. It was when he was half way through the glass that he started to see the leaves falling around a particular person in the crowd. Passing strange, he thought but when he rubbed his eyes and the leaves didn’t vanish he realized that maybe the little sales pitch he was told wasn’t a sales pitch at all. ]
Hello, afternoon. May I borrow a few minutes of your time?

Erichthonios | Final Fantasy XIV (Endwalker 6.2) |Voicetesting
Having seen all others thus far maskless, Erichthonios has until this point proceeded without wearing his own. However, when he and other Refugees are invited to create their own masks, he cannot help but be a little confused. Lifting the mask resting against the front of his robes, the towering young man at first seeks to politely decline.
“You needn’t worry. I already have one.”
Still, he cannot help but be curious at all the supplies set out for crafting. Why do they not simply create them? The people are small, and different, but surely so many of them aren’t unversed in such magicks… are they?
II. Wish Upon a Fish
Erichthonios has never considered himself a proper magos. Having struggled to perform any but shackling magicks for much of his life, the allure of being able to master a magick so easily is very real, so much so that were one to chance upon entering his vicinity, one would notice a tall, tawny individual in dark robes leaning over the water’s edge, treats resting in an open hand. Yet, for all he is twice and thrice the height of others around him, his mannerism is gentle, though the intensity of his red-hued gaze shows well his determination to seek out one type of fish in particular.
He does not throw the feed to the water’s surface, instead holding it out for the fish to see and approach as they become comfortable with his presence.
Still, as the fish gather and begin to eagerly gape at the surface, he finds it difficult to resist feeding others. They are hungry, and it wouldn’t be fair to ignore all others for the favor of one.
Having seen where it leads, that is a path he does not care to take.
“Apologies. I shouldn’t have ignored you.”
Mask making
Rhea'li had already made a mask of his own with Lilja, but when he passed back by the temple he couldn't help but notice the ancient towering above the others. He doesn't recognise this one and he doesn't have a red mask of the Convocation so there's no clues there.
So Erichthonios will find himself approached by a short (though when everyone else is tiny in comparison to the ancient, is it really notable?) miqo'te, waving with his entire arm to get his attention.
Having overheard the conversation, Rhea'li explains, "The mask you would make here is one that reflects your inner self."
He plucks the mask he made from his belongings, a rather simple one painted in dark blue with relatively straight orange lines radiating from the centre like a sun. Despite his efforts, it's still rather crudely made. But he holds it up for the stranger to see.
"Uniformity is not the intent, here." He lowers the mask and smiles. "Though you already have a mask from your home, do you wish to try making your own here? 'Tis enlightening to take some time to reflect upon yourself."

Albedo | Genshin Impact
[It's an interesting sensation, this recursion of the same events, that is. The clink of glass and bustling of wind looped. After what feels like the seventh time which the alchemist has gently set the glass alembic to begin the distilling process the sense of uncanny Déjà vu settles into his awareness.
This experiment doesn't require quite so many resets... That's the first clue—and then a free-standing door which didn't use to exist in this space at all is the more concrete pieces of evidence.
The desire to leave behind the troublesome matter of remaining stuck within the same moment is convincing. The will to explore something unknown is compelling. He reaches out—]
Gion;
[Upon further inspection that delves past the initial surprise, there isn't so much that is so unlike the world he's come from. For instance: with having lived in Mondstadt for some time—imbuing alcohol to smooth out the process of social a interaction is not alien. The concept of being compelled by fate is a tenuous one, even if it may intrigue, but it's actually the lofty side-affect that it's purported to have that holds his interest.
Albedo holds the the glass up to watch the nearest light source filter through the liquid. Thinking aloud in this bar setting he tilts the glass side to side as if simple observation will give him any answers.]
But could it have the same potency for all manners of different body compositions, I wonder?
Wish Upon a;
[There will be no special treats offered to the fish, not quite yet. For the moment Albedo has offered the tip of his gloved finger for the koi to mouth at in their curiosity as he decides what he should do.
More than anything else it seems he's there to talk at the fish.]
They say the light of the moon grants the blessing—but what determines which color will develop in the scales? Ample exposure to the moon's light is only one component in a much larger equation.
Wildcard;
{ooc: Hello I am touching this tdm so late and also I'm still catching up on months of genshin content so if I make a wittle fucky wucky please forgive me ;) }
ALBEDOOOOOO also Gion!!
[But a beer that shows those you're fated to be with is a strange idea, even for Nippon. He assumes it's only a gimmick, especially since it just takes one sip for Aether to catch the sight of autumn leaves out of the corner of his eyes.]
[But when he sees who those leaves are falling upon-- well, maybe there's more to this enchantment than he gave credit for. Leaving his drink behind, he quickly sidles up to Albedo, watching the way he's carefully examining the drink.]
Trying to figure out how it works?
[Also, important: Aether is currently sporting a pair of very real cat ears and a matching fluffy tail. The latter of which is wagging excitedly at the sight of an old friend. Embarrassing tbh.]
