Jikan Test Drive Meme
MinimizeYou've seen this before. The thought strikes suddenly, during whatever it is you were doing. Having an important conversation? Running away from home? Dying in the midst of a fierce battle? Where ever you are, one things is true: you're certain this isn't the first time you've lived through this. But upon realizing this, that's when it happens. Like someone hitting rewind on the VCR, you're back where you were ten minutes ago. And it happens again. And again. And again--

Until finally, something is different. A door stands in front of you. Will you go through it? Nothing else seems to be working, so this might be your only chance.

Upon opening the door and heading inside, a strange feeling overwhelms you. It's comforting and warm, like being enveloped in a soft, heavy blanket. You hear a voice murmuring in your ear, but it's unintelligible.

And in the next moment, you've appeared in a laboratory, surrounded by the unfamiliar yet worried faces of people in lab coats, speaking in a foreign language that doesn't sound so foreign to you anymore.

Nanjikan Research Laboratory

There isn't much time to process what's happening before characters are ushered out of the arrival room. They're passed between a medical and a psychiatric team, checking them for injuries and psychological trauma. Their every need is met: food is offered, injuries are tended to, and questions are answered. "You're in the Eastern Kingdom of Nippon on a planet called Gaia," they explain. "You were brought here because you became aware of the timeloop... we'll explain everything."

Orientation Nanjikan Research Lab, Tokyo
Everyone is brought to a large auditorium, where dozens of other people looking similarly out of place are seated around them. The scientists and doctors from before file on stage, thoroughly explaining the situation. What they experienced back home was a timeloop. While the loops in their home worlds are smaller and likely to resolve on their own, the fact that such a small amount of time is being repeated is what makes them so dangerous for those who become aware of it. And they've been working around the clock in collaboration with the neighboring Western Kingdom, checking adjacent universes for others who've become aware. While the technical explanations may go over the heads of most, that's not the reason they were all brought together like this.

"In order to bring you here, we used the very same magic responsible for freeing our world... Kizuna."

And they continue to explain: their own world was trapped in a year long loop for decades, if not longer. Through the use of an ancient form of bonding magic, they bound their world to the present flow of time, allowing it to progress past the timeloop. Or at least, that's how they thought it worked. In truth, Kizuna is very powerful reality-warping magic. And thanks to the powerful bond all refugees now share with the country of Nippon, the magic surrounding them will only continue to evolve.

Until they find the means of resuming the flow of time back in your home world, the refugees will just have to make due with this one. But not to worry, because Nippon is fully committed to taking care of everyone!

A Place to Call Home Tokyo, Kanto
Once orientation is over, characters will be allowed to choose housing in both Kyoto and Tokyo, enabling them the means of easily living between both Kingdoms if they please. These housing options will be fully paid for by the government of Nippon, with the NRL and MRU providing a stipend for food expenses in Tokyo and Kyoto respectively.

In lieu of providing transportation, all refugees will be granted an unlimited rail pass that they can use to travel all across Nippon! Thankfully, express routes connecting Tokyo and Kyoto will be running at all times of day, allowing refugees to freely travel between the Eastern and Western Kingdoms as they please. While this TDM and its prompts are focused on the Eastern Kingdom, you are welcome to have your character arrive in the Western Kingdom instead.

For those bound for Nihonbashi, be careful not to board the train too late at night. Because on Friday nights, the Loop Line's final train of the night is a party train! Every train car is set up with its own theme and decor, with this week featuring the return of the ever popular sexy maid cafe in the rear of the car! Dress up in a surprisingly demure maid outfit (this is 1921) and take customer orders, or have a seat and peruse the menu. Aside from a small bar, there's no actual food service or exchange of currency going on here, so it's all in good fun! The train will loop endlessly past the same station until sunrise, so hopefully they weren't planning on an early night's sleep.

In Little Edo, a Great Nippon Salamander has been spotted wandering the streets in search of clean water. While this may not seem like a big deal, these creatures range in size from that of a large dog to that of a large house. To subdue the creature, the local hunting clan, the Hanzaki, are searching for volunteers to help coax the salamander back out into the swamplands of the Tokyo Outskirts. While the safest method is to lead it using a hose or another source of water, those looking to get the job done quickly may instead choose to fight the creature, causing it to flee in whichever direction they point it in. Careful, they move faster than you think!

Over in Yoshiwara, the Tokyo branch of the refugee-owned nightclub, Club Hexxx, has finally opened its doors! Enjoy a dark and spooky atmosphere while listening to the latest jazz hits. And best of all, refugees will be offered a free glass of Club Hexxx's signature drink: Kinklist, a coffee-flavored drink that turns white after one sip, and causing the drinker's deepest sexual desire to appear written on their cheek in black ink. The text will remain until they finish the rest of the drink.

NRL Time Refugee Support Network
Once they've received their housing assignment, all refugees will be given small handheld devices called magi-tech communicators, or magi-comms for short. They're heavier than a conventional smartphone would be, but far sturdier, and powered by the ambient magic that flows through the city. Now available with limited sepia-tone color, and video cameras! They don't need to be charged, but they won't work outside of cities at all. Upon booting it up, they'll find a message linking them to a special channel for refugees.

Springtime Flowers

With the changing of the seasons, the cherry blossoms have finally bloomed, painting the landscape with dashes of pink and white on nearly every corner. Not even the busy citizens of Tokyo can resist stopping to smell the flowers, or even enjoying picnics underneath them!

And those looking for the best place to view the flowers need look no further than Little Edo, a suburb in south Tokyo that borders the vast wetlands that separate Tokyo from Yokohama. And between the lush parks, interesting shrines, and mysterious ruins, there's no shortage of things for those settling in to explore!

A Very Special Festival Kanayama Shrine, Tokyo Outskirts
While most residents are celebrating the spring season under the cherry blossoms, a different sort of celebration is taking place at the Kanayama Shrine, located just south of Tokyo on a tall, narrow hilltop that juts out of the flooded landscape. Once more, it's time for the annual Kanamara Matsuri, and all refugees will find themselves invited to the little island to see the festivities. And what sort of festival is it, you may ask?

Why, it's the Festival of the Steel Phallus! According to legend, there was once a plague of a type of ayakashi that was known to live in the genitals of humans, whose vicious bite caused the birthrate of a certain city to drop down to zero. To combat this, an afflicted young woman asked a blacksmith to forge a steel phallus in order to break the ayakashi's teeth, freeing her of the curse. It's said the original phallus remains enshrined in the innermost chambers-- and in honor of this most venerated dildo, a festival is held every spring to celebrate sexuality and fertility, all leading up to a procession in which a giant steel phallus is paraded around the island.

(And no, I didn't make this one up.)

Refugees visiting the shrine will find no shortage of phallic-shaped foods and merchandise. Outside of the wide array of oddly shaped dildos to choose from, in terms of food, there are stalls selling lollipops, popsicles, sausages, grilled squid, octopus balls, cream-filled dick waffles-- but there's more at work here than a simple theme. Those who choose the popsicles will find themselves with a temporary oral fixation, causing an urge to have something between their lips at all times. Now, is this a naughty trick, or merely a marketing ploy to sell more popsicles? It's hard to say.

But the real treat is inside the shrine itself, where a single dildo stands tall among gilded offerings and flowers. The inner chamber is only ever put on display once a year, and for good reason. Anyone whose eyes fall upon the majestic phallus will become overwhelmed with a desire to fill or be filled - which might just be why viewings are done in groups of two or more, with the outer doors of the shrine closed behind them for privacy. There's a nice pile of pillows and no shortage of lubricating oils available, so why not get into the spirit of the season with a friend or two?

Flowers of Evil Little Edo, Tokyo
Festivals aside, many people are coming out to Little Edo to enjoy the array of cherry blossom trees for Hanami, or flower watching parties. Of these, the refugees will find themselves invited to a special gathering, taking place under the shade of a massive cherry blossom tree that was planted in their honor the year before. And yet despite it's young age, it's the largest tree around, continually growing since the initial growth spurt when it was planted. Although most understand that it was likely Kizuna that caused its sudden growth, locals have begun treating it as something sacred, leaving offerings and making prayers beneath its branches.

And should the refugees decide to take part as well, they may be surprised to find that whatever they wish for comes true. These wishes are rather limited, and some may only exist for a few minutes. But for those wishing to meet someone from home, the may be surprised to find that the person in question will appear beside them in Nippon... (See notes below for details!)

But while everyone else is enjoying the cherry blossoms, a certain park in Little Edo is drawing crowds for a different reason. After last year's outbreak of jubokko ayakashi, the cherry blossom trees in this area were permanently stained by the jubokko's red pollen, causing the pink petals to develop distinct red veins.

However, unlike the jubokko's pollen, these petals carry a very different effect. Anyone who stands under the shade of these trees will feel an irresistible urge to confess something. This can be something minor, like a strange food combination they are particularly fond of, or something major, such as the name of the last person they had sex with. This urge will linger even after leaving the flowers, until they've either confessed enough to appease the tree, or until the trees go bare when the blossoms fall.

Underwater Mysteries Tokyo Outskirts, Kanto
Those who are familiar with some version of Nippon may find the changed landscape to be rather confusing. Due to a massive time surge many decades ago, the entire region of Kanto was flooded, leaving many cities underwater or transformed into swamplands. As nature took over, the flooded region surrounding Tokyo came to be known the Tokyo Outskirts.

Ordinarily, exploring this area can be rather dangerous, given both the presence of dangerous Ayakashi and the unstable landscape that's peppered with the ruins of drowned cities. But this week, those looking for a little adventure can take part in special boat tours exploring the ruins and viewing the cherry trees from a unique vantage point.

Up to four people can fit in a single steamboat, which is preprogrammed to follow a path that will take passengers past the top of a large hill that's almost completely covered in cherry blossom trees, with the ruins of a few old buildings just barely visible beneath the overgrowth. But beauty aside, the real marvel is within the water itself, which is clear enough that one can look down and see roads, trees, and even entire buildings still mostly intact beneath the surface. You'd think the water just appeared one day, given that nothing seems to have been destroyed when the flood occurred.

But not every trip will go as smoothly as planned. Hidden beneath the pink petals that pepper the surface of the water, unlucky refugees may spot the long, long body of an Ikuchi, the sea serpent ayakashi. Thought to be the longest Ayakashi to exist in Nippon, these thick, snake-like creatures may take entire minutes just to pass under a boat. Spotting the body is simply distressing, and thankfully not of much concern. But should someone make eye contact with the third eye on top of its head, the Ikuchi will climb over the side of the boat and coil around it, attempting to drag it beneath the surface. And for the one who initially made eye contact, they'll find themselves affixed with a curse that temporarily makes it impossible to float in the water.

Thankfully, this ayakashi isn't interested in attacking those who fall overboard, and there's plenty of spots where the water is far more shallow. But those who fall in will have to wait until another tour comes by to ferry them back to shore.

OOC Notes
Welcome to Jikan's April TDM! The TDM is considered game canon, and also serves as the intro log! That said, whether you choose to carry threads over to the game or not is up to you!

• For this month only, please include in your top-level if you are a new player without an invite! Those seeking an invite can do so here!!

• CRAU characters may start regaining their CRAU memories one month after the TDM. However, vague feelings of familiarity are allowed between previous game CR! For more on this, please read the FAQ!

• You do not need to sign-up for housing! Choose whichever style you prefer. Roommates can be chosen by the characters or can be random. If you want to switch housing later, your character has the option of moving at the beginning of each month.

• Despite everything, Kanamaru Matsuri is considered an all-ages event!

• Wishes can be anything, from food items to items from home. All characters in the game will be allowed to redeem one item, magical or otherwise, from home using this prompt! However, for new character apping into the game, you have the option to have your character join the game by being wished into the setting. The wish can be anything from a direct plea to see a certain castmate again, or even just a wish for more friends that goes awry. These characters will still remember a time loop, but will not remember seeing a door, instead appearing in Tokyo after hearing the wishing-character's voice call to them. These characters will then be encouraged to visit the NRL for orientation, and will be offered an explanation that Kizuna saved them from the timeloop directly.

• While characters may attempt to fight the Ikuchi, it will not fight back, and cutting its body will cause it to grow another head and become another separate Ikuchi. This new head is also capable of cursing people, so it's probably best to leave it alone.

Please leave any questions about the TDM prompts in the thread below! General game questions can be directed to the FAQ!

Apps are always open!

If you say so. [he's really got nothing to say on that subject, given it's a non-issue where he's from.

of course, if he heard Asch's history, he... would probably note that the intention also means something. anyway.]

If you asked most of them, I'm sure they'd laugh in your face and tell you you're stupid. And then attack you, probably. That's the kind of people who tend to become vampires, forcibly imposing their new strength on others like it makes them somehow superior creatures.

And I guess some people are just afraid to die, so the short time longer is more ideal.
charredflame: (032)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-29 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
[boy, does that sound familiar. He crosses his arms and leans back, frowning] Vampires don't sound very different from the other monsters who throw their weight around just because they have power.

[. . .] The only difference seems to be that yours aren't controlled by destiny.
devilsgame: (♫This stream of life flows on)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-05-29 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
They're probably not. Outside of vampires, though, mostly we just have some wild animals and other humans causing trouble, so I guess it's a matter of ratio.

[maybe the most odd thing, actually, is the way that word cracks Vael's entire veneer. destiny. he doesn't repeat it aloud, but the way it sours his expression is painfully clear, no matter how quickly he wipes it away. and, for all his comfort otherwise, there's a thick undertone of.... disappointment? frustration? or... it might be closest to hatred, when he speaks in turn.]

No, I don't think destiny does much of anything, for us. Higher powers, faith, destiny... better you just fight tooth and nail for whatever you have than put trust in anything else.
charredflame: (006)

I HIT ENTER TOO SOON

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-29 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[oddly enough, something in Asch's expression relaxes, just a little. He hasn't taken a lot of time to consider that The Score might be something only his world has, and that others were free to live without something prophesizing how they should do it.

The corner of his mouth twitches at the tone, and while his maintains the same tone it always has, there's almost something like sympathy in it, too]

Mmm . . . it doesn't do much at all, does it.

My world is guided by a prophecy - everything that is meant to happen, how and where, is already written. You would think, that knowing of a disaster that's going to happen, those in power would do everything to stop it.

Instead, they make sure it does. [a shrug] I think I prefer your monsters over mine.
devilsgame: (♫Off a dream once broken)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-05-30 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
... Heh.

[it's a comfort to some people, he's sure. living life by someone else's rules, someone else's decisions. how long did he pretend to do just that? but... as to preference, he'll have to disagree with that.

it's fair, though. Asch doesn't know his monsters personally, and neither does Vael know Asch's in turn. moreover, his circumstance alone is... unusual.]

If I had to guess, I'd say we'd all think our monsters the worst of the lot. [he can still feel, even after all these months, the ache of bone and muscle. the heat of the flame searing skin and lapping at blood. maybe that feeling won't ever really go away - it's how it is, as they say.] People who just try to keep the status quo, or people who just try to avoid the issues they don't think they can solve... it's all perspective.

[man, this is one hell of a heavy conversation to be having on a train car where so many people are dressed like maids and absolutely going at it.]
charredflame: (011)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-30 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Perspective is important. [he looks down as he frees one of his hands, slowly clenching it and then letting it relax. In the end, it didn't really matter - his time was limited no matter what he did.

He makes a fist one more time before tucking it back under his arm, crossing his arms a little tighter]
Everyone's monsters are the same, just for different reasons.

[they sure are having a conversation like this in the maid car, and Asch gets reminded of that when he's startled by a loud noise from nearby. Y'know, the loud, enjoyment kind of noise.

He huffs angrily and looks the other way]
devilsgame: (♫Drifting with the current)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-05-30 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Basically so. [Vael just shrugs, content enough with the idea and the conversation.

... and then the reality of it comes back to full awareness with that sound. Ah, someone's definitely enjoying themselves... Vael cups his chin thoughtfully, then shifts to rise to his feet and offer a hand.]

Let's go for a walk. This car is kind of stifling after a while, isn't it?

[It's kinda cute, the way Asch gets mad about the sex. It's what this car is here for, after all... but he does understand, and they've been talking a while now. If nothing else, he can see the younger man off to somewhere less... conflicting.

Hopefully there's nothing that jolts the car, but even if it happened it'd just be comical, wouldn't it? Nothing more, probably. Maybe.]
charredflame: (016)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-30 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[the stubborn side of him says he should just sit there and tolerate it and prove that no, he isn't angry -

Except no, he doesn't want to do that. He's only a little annoyed by it, but all the same it's right there and he'd rather not have to sit there and watch. He takes the offered hand and get to his feet]

Stifling is a word for it, yes.
devilsgame: (♫Been calling on the graves)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-05-30 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[The relief will probably be worth enough, honestly. Vael just chuckles and shifts to weave through the car, pulling open the door at its end. It's a small changing section, by the rack full of dresses and shoes and the storage for other belongings - there's a few scattered seats, and it's much cooler if only for the lack of occupancy.

Moreover, once the door shuts behind them, it's almost blissfully quiet. There's just the sound of the rails and the soft murmur of voices from the other side, and the loud crack of muscles as Vael stretches languidly.]

Haaaah... much better. Are you thirsty? I think I remember seeing some water in here. It'll probably help let whatever lingering feeling you're dealing with pass.
charredflame: (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-30 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[it's already miles better than the train car proper, and as the door shuts some of the tension in Asch's shoulders eases. He reaches up to adjust his collar, sighing softly]

This is much better. [there's gratitude in his tone, even as he pauses to look up at Vael with a raised eyebrow and a frown] There aren't any lingering feelings. [probably]

. . . some water would be nice, though.
devilsgame: (♪Du bist klein und man sieht dich nicht)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-05-30 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[glancing back over his shoulder, Vael shrugs.]

You don't have to convince me of anything, I was just thinking out loud since you seemed... conflicted.

[diplomatically speaking. The vampire is quick to cross the space, disappearing behind a rack and rummaging for-- ah. There it is. A big, sealed container of water and some cups. He fills one for Asch, then slips back beyond the clothes to bring it to him.]

Not that it's my space to say so, but I'm sure you're welcome to linger back here as long a you like. Who knows how many hours are left of this time loop...
charredflame: (023)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-30 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[conflicted is . . . probably a good word for it, as much as Asch just wants to deny it. It isn't that he's against what's happening in the train car, really - if people want to enjoy themselves, far be it from him to try and stop it. But also, he wants no part in it, either, and unfortunately he's just a touch too proper.

He sighs, rubbing at the bridge of his nose]
I'm still adjusting to things being so . . . open.

[he huffs to himself] Maybe for a bit, when it becomes - louder.
devilsgame: (♫Bis der Spiegel zerbricht)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-05-30 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's understandable.

[Vael doesn't even bother with proper, at this juncture. Thunking himself down on one of the seats and draping his arms over his knees, he watches Asch for a moment.]

I imagine you're used to a certain kind of etiquette - not a lot of people grow up around casual sex and seedy circumstances.
charredflame: (004)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-05-30 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[he's just. going to take a long sip of water before sitting down, an attempt to shove away his, ah, conflicted feelings on all of this.

He huffs again, but there's some wry amusement in it]

I don't know if etiquette is the word, but you aren't wrong. I wasn't sent to places like that very often.
devilsgame: (♫The thunder and lightning)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-06-01 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Close enough, I think.

[settling in himself, Vael takes a drink of his own water, glancing to Asch. honestly, he sort of gets what he means, but...]

Sent to? What did you do, growing up?

[... better to ask directly, right? maybe there's a little cocky swagger in how he asks it, but it's mostly just an earnest question.]
charredflame: (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-06-01 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[a surprisingly difficult question to answer, when one tries not to give the kneejerk, automatic "none of your business" response. He glances down to the cup in his hands as he thinks of a way to word it]

That prophecy I mentioned - the Score - has a religion built around it, controlled by the Order of Lorelei. I was one of their highest ranking generals from the age of ten. They would be sent out to "keep the peace" or accompany the head members, though I'm sure it isn't a surprise they did more than that.

[despite the way he tries to keep his tone neutral, the disdain is still clear]
devilsgame: (♪There is no hope)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-06-02 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[he'd have let it go, most likely. it's not as if he's entitled to it, after all.]

I see. Seems like a pretty good way to keep their intentions under wraps and their members unawares. [this... suggests more knowledge in the sort of lifestyle than he ought to have, probably, but it's really no different from Yohan running things.

pretending to be God, acting as a pureblooded vampire and running a scheme to crumble society as a whole...]

... and I can imagine why those districts wouldn't be very high on their list of places to go, really.
charredflame: (077)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-06-02 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Asch tilts his head just a bit; a similar experience, hm? He's not going to ask, of course, but it makes it . . . slightly easier to talk about, in a strange way.

He makes a noise of agreement, finishing off his water and setting the cup aside]

More or less. Ironic, when their most devout followers are from those very places.
devilsgame: (♪Mit ganz viel Geld)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-06-06 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. [tilting his head from one side to the other, Vael shrugs.]

No need, when people are so desperate to believe in anything, right? Anyway, point is - that makes sense.

[that's enough of that subject, he thinks, lest he go and say too much again. the vampire has had quite enough of that, thanks.]

Are you finding it hard now, then? Not having something specific driving you forward?
charredflame: (032)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-06-06 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm. [he's fine with moving forward; there isn't much else to say, really, without getting into the complicated specifics.

He takes a moment or two to think about the question, fingers clasped together. It's both an easy and a difficult answer, one he's finding it hard to word in the right way]

Yes and no. [...] It's complicated.
devilsgame: (♫Been calling on the graves)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-06-14 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Vael considers that for a moment. It's not much, to most, but the admission says enough to him.]

Fair enough. Most things in life are a lot more complicated than we like to pretend, no?

[It suggests, at least to him, a value for how much Asch cared about his role. Just enough apathy to find the freedom comforting, not enough apathy to really stop looking for something to keep busy with. Fair, especially if you buried yourself in that space long enough.]

Seems like you have just enough agency to get in trouble, being here. [There's cheeky amusement there as he arranges his skirt. When he speaks, he's more or less speaking absently; the words might put some suggestions to Vael's own history, if you look hard enough.] and who knows? You might find you like that freedom more than you ever thought, eventually.
charredflame: (088)

[personal profile] charredflame 2022-06-15 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
An understatement. [even if, in some cases, he's the one making things more complicated] It would be slightly less complicated if I were here by myself.

[he'd like to think so, anyway. Luke being here is complicated for a myriad of reasons regardless, whether he's here or not.

His expression sours a little, but it's far from the snap annoyance he usually reacts with. It does sound as though Vael is speaking from experience, somewhat. He glances back over, pointedly not looking down as he fixes his skirt]

I do somehow keep stumbling into it. [begrudgingly] That aside, I haven't . . . disliked it, so far.

[. . .]

Speaking from experience?
devilsgame: (♪Again and again and again and again)

[personal profile] devilsgame 2022-06-23 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah. Now you're begging me to ask for clarification on who you're with.

[It's a good-natured reply, more or less letting Asch get away with how much he implied if he doesn't want to talk about it.

He is absolutely pretending not to notice that the redhead is avoiding looking at a lot of him (he's not sporting a hard-on or anything, so really he just thinks it's kind of amusing), humming and staring out the train window.]

I'm still coming to the end of my decision, but you could say that. [He thinks he could count the features outside, define where they loop...] Most of the time I still don't know what to do with it. Sometimes, I think it's an illusion and I'm going to blink and be right back where I was before I got here.

[Judging by his expression, it wasn't a fun time.]

Anyway, I'm not here to depress you with that shit. Though I guess we're both stuck until this line fixes itself, huh?
charredflame: (006)

[it's one thing to call Luke a replica to his face, and use the term in front of people who know what happened, but outside of that . . . how is he supposed to describe him? It isn't as though he cares, but it's also no one's business]

He's my personal annoyance. [actually, that works pretty well] You'll know if you meet him.

[as much as he'd like to pretend that he and Luke are different, he knows that isn't how it is. All it would take is one glance for people to see they're the same.

But he's only being POLITE by now looking, wow, that's the only reason Vael please.

It doesn't look as though it was fun, but Asch can sympathize. Especially about waking up and suddenly being right back where he started. What a nightmare that would be, going through all of that again.

He snorts softly, the corner of his mouth twitching]

I'm sure we can find a slightly less depressing topic until then.

[The acknowledgement he gives is a percussive snort of a laugh, head shaking.]

Fair enough. That's quite a description, in any case.

[Ah yes of course, the totally real reason, not at all influenced by anything else. Vael hardly even notices, honestly.

He's more interested in keeping up with the half-charade that he's unbothered and perfectly fine.]

Oh, no doubt. You might have to lead that one, though. Most of mine are pretty mundane stories about meetings and magic shows.
