You've seen this before. The thought strikes suddenly, during whatever it is you were doing. Having an important conversation? Running away from home? Dying in the midst of a fierce battle? Where ever you are, one things is true: you're certain this isn't the first time you've lived through this. But upon realizing this, that's when it happens. Like someone hitting rewind on the VCR, you're back where you were ten minutes ago. And it happens again. And again. And again--

Until finally, something is different. A door stands in front of you. Will you go through it? Nothing else seems to be working, so this might be your only chance.



Upon opening the door and heading inside, a strange feeling overwhelms you. It's comforting and warm, like being enveloped in a soft, heavy blanket. You hear a voice murmuring in your ear, but it's unintelligible.

And in the next moment, you've appeared in a laboratory, surrounded by the unfamiliar yet worried faces of people in lab coats, speaking in a foreign language that doesn't sound so foreign to you anymore.

Nanjikan Research Laboratory

There isn't much time to process what's happening before characters are ushered out of the arrival room. They're passed between a medical and a psychiatric team, checking them for injuries and psychological trauma. Their every need is met: food is offered, injuries are tended to, and questions are answered. "You're in a country called Nippon on a planet called Gaia," they explain. "You were brought here because you became aware of the timeloop... we'll explain everything."

Everyone is brought to a large auditorium, where dozens of other people looking similarly out of place are seated around them. The scientists and doctors from before file on stage, thoroughly explaining the situation. What they experienced back home was a timeloop. While the loops in their home worlds are smaller and likely to resolve on their own, the fact that such a small amount of time is being repeated is what makes them so dangerous for those who become aware of it. And they've been working around the clock, checking adjacent universes for others who've become aware. While the technical explanations may go over the heads of most, that's not the reason they were all brought together like this.

"In order to bring you here, we used the very same magic responsible for freeing our world... Kizuna."

And they continue to explain: their own world was trapped in a year long loop for decades, if not longer. Through the use of an ancient form of bonding magic, they bound their world to the present flow of time, allowing it to progress past the timeloop. Or at least, that's how they thought it worked. In truth, it appears to be magic capable of distorting reality itself. But by the time they realized this was the case, they had already begun the process of rescuing others from similar worlds using that very same magic.

Until they find the means of resuming the flow of time back in your home world, you'll just have to make due with this one. But not to worry, because Nippon is fully committed to taking care of the refugees!

A Place to Call Home Tokyo, Kanto
Once orientation is over, characters will be given one of three options for housing. Housing will be paid by the government of Nippon until they decide to move elsewhere, with NRL providing a stipend for food expenses.

In lieu of providing transportation, all refugees will be granted an unlimited rail pass that they can use to travel all across Nippon!

Refugees arriving at their apartments in Nihonbashi will be making a horrifying discovery. Nestled just above their balcony are numerous pigeon nests -- but not just any pigeon nests. These are Rattle Pigeons, a common bird found in just about any city of Nippon. These birds get their names from the ominous rattle-like sound they produce when eating, which is often associated with bad omens. They're completely harmless otherwise, but it might make it a bit hard to sleep with "rattlesnakes" in the eaves.

Over in Little Edo, refugees living in their shared houses will be met with colourful gift baskets at their door, courtesy of their native Nippon-jin neighbors. Each basket contains a variety of rice crackers, sweets, and winter fruit. But one in particular will have a little note wrapped around it -- "wine fruit, for the grown-ups". True to its name, it's a very juicy fruit with a wine-like aftertaste. The reason being that it's naturally fermented in a way to make the entire fruit very alcoholic, causing drunkenness with only a few bites.

And in Yoshiwara, refugees assigned to the dorms will have to put up with a power outage affecting most of the neighborhood. For a neighborhood that usually never sleeps, it's downright eerie to see it go completely dark. Better find someone to cuddle up with until they fix the power. It's going to be a long, chilly night.

NRL Time Refugee Support Network
Once they've received their housing assignment, all refugees will be given small handheld devices called magi-tech comms, or magi-comms for short. They're heavier than a conventional smartphone would be, but far sturdier, and powered by the ambient magic that flows through the city. They don't need to be charged, but they won't work outside of cities at all. Upon booting it up, they'll find a message linking them to a special channel for refugees.

It's A Living

While the NRL may be providing shelter and food expenses, those hoping to do a little more with their time in Nippon should start thinking about getting a job! Thankfully, the economy is booming in Tokyo, and there's no shortage of work to be found. You might even find yourself doing something you love!

Or lovingly tolerate, at least.

Shopping Spree Shibuya, Tokyo
For those looking to pump up their wardrobe before setting out into the job market, they'd be best heading towards the neighborhood of Shibuya. Much like its modern counterpart, Shibuya is home to dozens of clothing stores and other retail storefronts. And one department store in particular is offering something special to all refugees: free vouchers for up to three new outfits in their latest fashion department.

But while browsing and trying on clothes, they might start to feel a little strange. After one hour, they'll be starving, as if they hadn't eaten all day. In two, they'll start feeling exhausted, as if they've pulled an all-nighter. And should they make it to three hours, they'll start feeling horrible, dizzy and hungry without any cause or explanation. Fearing a possible gas leak of some kind, eventually the whole building is evacuated -- only to find a rather large presence of Samurai officers and worried family members waiting outside.

It seems a very dangerous time surge struck the building, causing time to pass much slower on the inside. Every hour spent inside shopping translated to one full day outside it. And unfortunately, this one didn't affect their bodies. While it only feels like it's been three hours, in reality, they've all gone without food, water, or sleep for up to three days.

Everyone is offered food and water, as well as possible medical treatment if needed. And of course, the building is immediately shut down. Good thing those vouchers don't expire, at least?

Sakura Saku Yoshiwara, Tokyo
Refugees living in Yoshiwara should by now be used to the sight of raunchy or otherwise lascivious businesses opening up late at night around the neighborhood. While arts and entertainment ruled the daylight hours, at night, the grounds became known as Tokyo's red light district. Incense laced with special aphrodisiac, just barely strong enough to entice customers into their businesses, were a common staple along the streets at night.

But something was different today. Today, one of those businesses was open during daylight hours -- and they seem to be very keen in drawing in as many refugees as they can. The business in question is a host club called Sakuranbo. And they're not looking for customers right now: they're looking to hire.

"Whatever your present employer pays you, I'll offer double. Whatever standard of living you've grown accustomed to, I'll elevate tenfold. All I ask is you bring your best possible selves, so our patrons may love you as I do."

It's really not a bad gig. And for month of February, all refugees will have the opportunity to work there under a trial-only basis, working only as much as they want. Jobs range from serving drinks, to live comedy or musical performances, and of course, private sexual performances. But when the owner promises refugees will never be touched by anyone they don't want, she means it. After all, Sakuranbo is first and foremost a voyeur's club. Customers watch sexual performances through a shoji screen or, for a sizable fee, they can poke a hole in the screen and watch directly.

It may not be the sort of work any refugee would choose to jump on, but seeing as all positions receive the same wage, and it is the highest paying job in Yoshiwara, it might be worth spending a day or two to give it a shot.

Slippery Salamander Nihonbashi, Tokyo
For those hoping to pass through Nihonbashi, it seems they might be waiting for a little while. A great Nippon salamander has found its way into the canals below the bridge from which Nihonbashi gets its name. Roughly the size of train car, the salamander appears to be trapped under a section of the bridge, and is very unhappy about it. It thrashes around violently, causing earthquake-like tremors that extend all throughout the neighborhood. Fearing a collapse, the Samurai officers on patrol are enlisting the help of everyone and anyone to try and evacuate the buildings that are located on that section of the bridge. And of course, one of those happens to be where some of the refugees have been living.

Unfortunately, killing it isn't an option. As a nearby spectator explains, they're virtually immortal and can regenerate even from near total incineration. And it's not like it's the salamander's fault it got stuck here! Killing such a long-lived creature would be cruel. But refugees are free to attempt other means of soothing the beast, at least. Perhaps if they can get it to stop struggling, it'll calm down long enough to evacuate everyone safely.

Eventually, the specialists are called in: the Hanzaki Clan, one of the many hunter clans in Nippon. When it comes to dealing with dangerous beasts and monstrous ayakashi, they're second to none! It seems the process of removing the salamander will be an icky one: it produces a thick, gelatinous coating around its body when it's stressed, and they'll need volunteers to help carve it off with specialized safety shears to free it. It's sticky, gooey, and gets just about everywhere -- but anyone who sticks around to help will be offered to join the Hanzaki if they think they'd enjoy the work. They promise -- it won't always be this nasty. But before looking towards new employment opportunities, might be a good idea to hit up one of Tokyo's many public baths to wash off the slime. Yuck!

Welcome to Jikan's February TDM! The TDM is considered game canon, and also serves as the intro log! That said, whether you choose to carry threads over to the game or not is up to you!

• Current players are more than welcome to top-level, or take prompts from the TDM and use for their own logs! This may change in the future depending on how busy TDMs become.

• CRAU characters may start regaining their CRAU memories one month after the TDM. However, vague feelings of familiarity are allowed between previous game CR! For more on this, please read the FAQ!

• You do not need to sign-up for housing! Choose whichever style you prefer. Roommates can be chosen by the characters or can be random. If you want to switch housing later, your character has the option of moving at the beginning of each month.

• While the owner of Sakuranbo is earnest in wanting to help the refugees make a living without forcing them to sell their bodies, she's not above attempting to coerce them into sexual performances after she's earned their trust. These performances will always be alone or with fellow employees, and never with customers. This is an option for players who want to play the prostitution angle, but have characters who would not be open to it.

• Characters who leave the department store in the first or second hour will leave to discover that they lost one day or two days respectively. But there won't be any officers and medical help waiting on the outside. Attempting to re-enter will cause them to somehow arrive at the end of the third hour, no matter when they originally left.

• Clothing vouchers can be redeemed a week after the initial incident when the time surge disappears and the shop re-opens. For an idea of what sort of fashion exists in Nippon, here is a general idea!

[The locals walking by seem wary, doing their best to ignore him. After all, who would want to approach a man who's over seven feet tall and has broken horns where ears should be? He notices. He notices, and it hurts. But he keeps going. He stays positive, and he does his best to attract customers. He made an oath to the old woman who offered him kindness and a home when everyone else showed unease.]

[If there's anything that can be said about Dazai and fashion, it's that he's very particular about it. He absolutely must be as stylish as possible. If he only gets three free outfits, he's going to make them count.

Which means that he spends the full three hours in the store. And when he stumbles out of the building, not only does he look haggard as anything, but there are also black ink letters visible on his hands and neck.

Don't mind him, he's just going to collapse on the nearest person now. Fwoomph.]

[Of course, three new outfits is not nearly enough. Combined with Dazai's love of alcohol and his growing collection of books, and you have some hobbies that get expensive very quickly.

So naturally he's down to be a 'host'. Put on a performance? No problem at all.

At the end of the day, he greets the other workers with a smile. He's a bit of a mess - wrinkled clothes, hair sticking to his face - but at least he's happy.]

» 01; No Place To Call Home

[ Despite all the care and attention those in charge have given, something still isn't sitting right in the pit of Lisa's stomach. Something's off, more than just what's presented with the time loop. There's a major dissonance between her current state and what she last remembers. Repeatedly remembers. While she can function without a panic attack, it doesn't erase the memory or the pain associated with it and finds it sometimes hard to breathe.

And looking at all these amenities and the fact that she's offered housing? It doesn't feel right. Something in the pit of her stomach makes her almost ill as she gets further from the center. But she presses on, trying to take in everything. Instead of entering the building she's been assigned to, she merely stares up at the windows on the second floor. ]

» 02; Let's Shop Till We Drop

[ The effects seemed to set in extremely fast and she wasn't even aware of the time passing. Stumbling out of the store, she nearly falls onto a person passing by. Hopefully they're kind enough to catch her in this state she's in. As she tries to steady herself, her fingers dig lightly into their arm. It's unintentional as she tries to straighten out. ]

» 03; Care To Have A Drink, Honey?

[ Taking up work as a server at this type of establishment wasn't exactly what Lisa had in mind when she arrived here. While she was in the field of helping people, this isn't the type of helping she had in mind. Still, it was a job, if only temporary. It's something to keep her mind off of everything that's happened and is happening.

With a soft smile, she leans over, to pour a drink. Her clothes are certainly tailored to show off certain assets of hers and while she isn't exactly thrilled, she's not completely uncomfortable with it, either. ]

★ 01 ; Comfort In The Familiar

[ There was something oddly familiar about this place. Like he'd heard it before. But it all seemed like a dream that had been fleeting. Hm. It wasn't something he was going to focus on or worry about, since he was assured that it could just be some side effects from the time loop he'd been experience back home. It's fine, he could live with that. Or, at least, pretend he was living with it.

But he's glad the moment they release him from that amphitheater with all the information dump he was given. Stretching his arms above his head, he lets out a groan. Sitting in those seats wasn't very comfortable for his aging bones. ]

Ahh, I thought they'd never let us out of that place. Does anyone actually listen to everything they say?

★ 02 ; Relaxing Under The Stars

[ Having traveled through Egypt and dealt with some very harsh settings, the power outage and cold night doesn't really bother him. Maybe some might think it's dangerous for an old many to climb up on top of the roof with a bottle of wine, but he was far from your average old man. For him, this power outage was actually kind of a nice change of pace.

So, he'll settle in to his spot with a blanket draped over him and tips the bottle back to drink out of it straight. No reason to bother with glasses if he's just going to be enjoying this beverage by himself.

That is, unless someone saw him climb up there and decided they wanted to join him in his drinking. He wouldn't say no to company. ]

★ 03 ; Just Here For A Good Time

[ Under normal circumstances back home, he wouldn't be caught dead in a place like this. Not only would his wife murder him, but there would be a few others passing harsh judgement on him. Luckily he could get away with this here. At least he hopes he can.

It isn't that he's here to check out the ladies with their short skirts and flattering cut outfits. No, not at all... He was clearly only here for the drinks. They had a good assortment and had a good taste. Whoever made the mix was great at what they did.

Of course, it'd be more fun if he had some company. Male or female, a good talking partner would make this more entertaining. So, he's going to wave at the nearest person and try to beckon them over. ]

Which is how he ends up here, behind the shoji screen, dressed in a loose Yukata and looking very, very flustered as he bares the skin of his legs.]

01 No Place Like Home;

[ david has lived through a lot. there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. but even then, the loop he went through was rough. he's shaking it off, wandering his way around as he finds the place he's going to stay for the foreseeable future. no matter what it is, it'll definitely be better than just staying in a forest.

he's making his way to the building when he hears the rattle. it causes him to jump, looking around with a slight look of fear before looking up and seeing the feathery culprit. ]

Osomatsu sneezes as he bundles up in a blanket in the dark. he's in a dorm alone, for now, and it is cold. he's miserable, and he just arrived. he should have picked some other place to stay, but he didn't know Yoshiwara would go dark almost as soon as he got there.

he makes his way to the door and slides it open, peeking into the hallway to see if other people are around. it's dark, but he can make out moving shadows in the moonlight. he begins to move... but then Osomatsu trips on the blanket he's huddled in and falls forward. he either lands on someone, or near someone]

[it's been a week since Osomatsu arrived in Nippon and... he's totally digging it. aside from the power-outage, the place is a blast. he's a little lonely without his family, of course, but having some time away can be good in and of itself, too. besides, he'll probably be reunited with them in no time, right? so he's got to enjoy this vacation while he can.

he's been looking around Yoshiwara, and has finally come to the host club. now, Osomatsu is anything but host material. he knows this. at the same time, he's enticed by the offering of cash. he's held exactly one job in his lifetime, and it lasted maybe two weeks. but he thinks he's pretty charming, and fun to talk to. maybe he could earn some money here.

after all, he's no longer at home. Osomatsu enjoys being a NEET, but if he is going to make friends, he needs to branch out. otherwise, he'll be sitting at home alone all day! why not try to do something new before he has to go back to his old life?

imagine his surprise when he gets hired almost instantly. amazing. stuff like that doesn't happen to him, usually. he's only serving drinks now, but that gives him an opportunity to chat up the locals, and the other time refugees, and to get comfortable working in this environment. he sets the drink down on the table, making sure not to touch the rim of the glass like he was taught hours ago]

[Well, there's a lot to take in and process. But for now, Kashuu decide to go along with the flow and picked a place to stay at. The apartments seem good for now, although it's not the same as the citadel.

Night time arrived, and he can't sleep.]

because surely no one would blindly eat food that was left in front of them without being a bit suspicious about it, right? giorno doesn't make it a habit to be paranoid about the things he was given, but the circumstances here are a bit different and he gives the wine fruit a bit of a sniff before turning to the nearest person who had received a similar present(?) to him calmly. ]

I would be careful about the wine fruit. It smells particularly strong of alcohol.

[ giorno's read about the salamanders of japan (this was basically japan, wasn't it?) and was familiar enough with the folklore that surrounds them. so, when there was a question about whether or not they could kill the salamander that was meet with strong disapproval, giorno was not surprised. experiencing the tremors that were described in those stories, however, was a surprise to him.

needless to say that the impending damages that come as a result from the tremors are expected at this point. the matter was how involved he wanted to get and that was a question that was quickly answered when there were cries of help from people trapped under fallen debris. ...that transform into various plants and flowers allowing those trapped under to escape after he places a hand on the debris.

WangJi hadn't had much preference for where he was supposed to live, but honestly, the dorms hadn't sounded half bad. Sure, he was used to more space to himself and more privacy, but he had dealt with much as a cultivator. Sharing a living space wasn't so bad.

Of course, when he arrived, the power was out. At the same time, he wasn't used to having power like the rest of this world was so he was not at all affected by that. Even though it was cold, anyone who saw him might say that he was completely unphased by it.

But he was sitting on the floor of his room, kind of looking out the window. Keep him company? Ask him what he is looking at?

Shopping Spree
Even though WangJi still had his clothes from when he arrived, seeing the fashions that were offered here, he was sorely out of place. Perhaps he could find something that fit in a little more without being outside of what Gusu Lan might wear... in case he needed something like that and since the department store was providing three of them at no cost, there was no reason that he shouldn't at least look.

Well, that was until he became rather hungry after only an hour. Odd, but he pushed through it. However becoming so utterly exhausted by the second hour, decided it was time to leave... only to find out that the time had passed so very quickly.

No wonder, he was so hungry. He couldn't help but look back at the store in shock.

Sakura Saku
It was not something that WangJi would have expected to hear, someone asking him if he wanted to work at a club that catered to such indiscrete activities. His lack of an answer to her seemed to have been permission to continue so she had gone into more and including that she was looking for musical performances.

Well... he could probably do that at least since he had his guqin. He could try it out and see if he would want to continue to work there.

So, on a trial basis, he agreed to play music in the club. As such he could be found in there at least a few days as he tried to decide if he wanted to continue this position.

Bonus - Public Bathhouse
The only downside of his current choice of residence was the fact that there was no private bathing facility. It was something that he could deal with though. It just meant that he had to travel to the public bathhouse in order to bathe.

So every night, he was there. He followed the rules that were required by the bathhouse before he took the opportunity to soak in the warm water. He was more used to the cold spring, but he wasn't going to complain about this one either. He chose to sit further to the side and usually had his eyes closed as he relaxed.

But he’s accustomed to seeing strange faces so it strikes him immediately when he sees the familiar face of Lan Wangji. Placid, as always. [ Weird creatures? These are right up his alley. Rohan hears of the work and immediately makes his way towards it. He's not put off by something disgusting if it is interesting. But, covered in the gross of the day, he'll make his way to a public bath. He wishes they weren't public baths, but cslime-covered beggers can't be choosers, so he still has to use them.

He'll discard his clothes, rince off, then slip into the public bath. He'll only look up and acknowledge anyone if he hears anyone approaching: ]

The dorms had everything he needed, plus some wild new technology that made life easier. And he didn’t mind using the public bathhouses to stay clean. It all sounded good.

He doesn’t need heat or cooling, but he’s left wondering (with the power out) where he can build a fire to stay warm. He made a mental note to invest in a fur cloak. In the interim, he borrowed a pot from the communal kitchen and light a small fire with a flick of talisman. It’s not much, but it’s enough to keep the chill from settling in. He’s more than happy to share the warmth. ))

So, Wei Wuxian finds himself in a private area with a screen between him and his patron. Everything has to be dramatic to come across in shadow, so he makes a slow, teasing show of untying the fastens of his robes. Turning his back to the screen, he rolls his shoulder, prompting the robe to slide down revealing the first glimpse of bae skin (should the patron be watching through a hole). The whole striptease lasts a matter of minutes until Wei Wuxian is kneeling behind the screen, long black hair spilling over pale skin. He glances over his shoulder to the shadow of the patron and flashes a sultry smile. ))

[Rin has a very hard time paying attention to what the kind (but boring and unfamiliar) scientists have to say. He’s still trying to process what he’s seen, what he’s been through. He went to rescue Yukio… then Yukio turned on him, broke his sword, and escaped on a glowing helicopter. Then everything was suddenly unbearably hot and incredibly painful.

And then… it started all over again.

It took him a few loops to realize that the smoky, food-like odor he’d been smelling was his own burning flesh. That the reason the pain ended was because his nerves burned away. They never burned away fast enough.

Nothing he did changed how things progressed. No one else seemed to even notice. So, when the door had appeared after the seventh time… well, he took it immediately.

He stares down at his still intact sword in his lap as others in the auditorium start clearing out. Time loops? Some sort of magic? There’s way too much for him to take in right now, and he looks up, clearly confused and lost]

Uh… did anyone… understand any of that?

A Place To Call Home [OTA to Dorms]

[By the time Rin has ridden the train to Yoshiwara, he’s calmed down a bit and has read some information on his new phone. New? Old… new. It reminded him of something, a bulky laptop. But he’d never had one of those, had he? Well, whatever. The dorms are cozy enough, even if they’re a bit old and run down, but the other half of his room seems unoccupied for now.

Rin barely has time to get settled before the power blips out! Great!! After figuring out that the entire area has been affected, he heads to the communal kitchen on his floor. If the power is out, the food in fridge might spoil… so he might as well get everyone a hot meal, right?

Using some of the meat and eggs and leftover rice from the fridge, the boy with the pointed ears holds a wok surrounded by seemingly fuel-less blue flames in his hand, tossing together some fried rice. He grins at anyone who walks in] Ah, hey there! You want some hot food? Let me know if there’s somethin’ else you want me to cook, too!

[There's a loud "MEOW" from somewhere else in the kitchen. Ah... there's a little black cat on the counter?? oh he's cute.

[ The apartments are Cordy's choice. She doesn't really have anyone she can room with for the house, and dorms are...well, look. She's a princess. She's used to having the best of the best, and while having to lay low with Kilani wore her out of expecting that a long time ago, old habits die hard.

So she'd rather have central heating, okay.

Her apartment is on the third floor of a building. All through the month she's been spending whatever money she can get her hands on on either food or ways to make the apartment nicer, and then there are fucking pigeons, why.

Clearly, something must be done.

Anyone nearby, after a few days of this, can eventually see a thin wisp of smoke swirling out from her balcony and smell the heady aroma of incense. And then... the worst fucking pigeon you've ever seen in your life flies out, with murder in its eyes. One would think that pigeon is a fiend from the depths of Hades, and they would be correct, because it is literally a fiend from the depths of Hades.

Anyway, it's gonna fly around and coo violently at all the other pigeons, and possibly also at random passers-by. And...is that a girl in the window cackling like a madman?]

[ Cordy's honestly never had any sort of job in her life, so she approaches this offer with just a bit of apprehension and nervousness. Honestly, she has no idea what the hell to even expect.

So most people would probably catch her serving drinks to patrons, but some days she's behind the screen, often pausing for an awkward few seconds before saying anything. ]
