[Kiriho's soul song is weird. It's much too loud and bears down on one's spirit. Altair can easily follow it, there's no hiding with this heart-pounding music coming from oneself.
Kiriho sees Altair disappear. He had guessed that the other man might disappear into shadow, and had guessed that the direction he would go would be down-- after all, shadows connect at the feet. Kiriho lunges forward into a handspring, pitching his left hand down to get out of the spot as fast as possible, his legs up and over until he lands on his feet a distance away. Quickly he turns to look for unusual shadows. His hand slips to the bronze knife at his waist, touching it. There is a gap between the handle and the sheath where about one-half inch of blade is exposed. Kiriho runs his left middle fingertip across the bit of the blade there, drawing drops of blood. In the mind, he decides on an incantation. If he has one more moment, he will begin it.
He wishes he had a tree to climb and then attack downward from, get his feet off of the ground. They are in an alley, not that he knows what that is, and the wooden crates, the barrels, and the boxes of rubbish stacked in several places by the roadside look promising. It also looks like they make a great place for Altair to hide, and what's more, he isn't sure how much weight they will hold.]
