Cherry Blossoms only bloom for a couple weeks at the start of spring, so people see them as a fleeting beauty to be shared with someone you love. Since they always appear at the start of spring after a long winter, they're also sign of new beginnings. A chance to confess your feelings to your heart's desire, or to try to get that special person to notice you! There's just something really romantic and pure about sharing such tender feelings under the blooming cherry trees.

[He gives a wistful sigh at that, as if he himself is caught up in the romance of it.

There is also a not zero percent chance he pulled all this from watching anime and not any actual real life experience.]
