You've seen this before. The thought strikes suddenly, during whatever it is you were doing. Having an important conversation? Running away from home? Dying in the midst of a fierce battle? Where ever you are, one things is true: you're certain this isn't the first time you've lived through this. But upon realizing this, that's when it happens. Like someone hitting rewind on the VCR, you're back where you were ten minutes ago. And it happens again. And again. And again--Until finally, something is different. A door stands in front of you. Will you go through it? Nothing else seems to be working, so this might be your only chance.

Upon opening the door and heading inside, a strange feeling overwhelms you. It's comforting and warm, like being enveloped in a soft, heavy blanket. You hear a voice murmuring in your ear, but it's unintelligible.
And in the next moment, you've appeared in a laboratory, surrounded by the unfamiliar yet worried faces of people in lab coats, speaking in a foreign language that doesn't sound so foreign to you anymore.
Nanjikan Research Laboratory

There isn't much time to process what's happening before characters are ushered out of the arrival room. They're passed between a medical and a psychiatric team, checking them for injuries and psychological trauma. Their every need is met: food is offered, injuries are tended to, and questions are answered. "You're in a country called Nippon on a planet called Gaia," they explain. "You were brought here because you became aware of the timeloop... we'll explain everything."
Orientation Nanjikan Research Lab, Tokyo
Everyone is brought to a large auditorium, where dozens of other people looking similarly out of place are seated around them. The scientists and doctors from before file on stage, thoroughly explaining the situation. What they experienced back home was a timeloop. While the loops in their home worlds are smaller and likely to resolve on their own, the fact that such a small amount of time is being repeated is what makes them so dangerous for those who become aware of it. And they've been working around the clock, checking adjacent universes for others who've become aware. While the technical explanations may go over the heads of most, that's not the reason they were all brought together like this. "In order to bring you here, we used the very same magic responsible for freeing our world... Kizuna."
And they continue to explain: their own world was trapped in a year long loop for decades, if not longer. Through the use of an ancient form of bonding magic, they bound their world to the present flow of time, allowing it to progress past the timeloop. Or at least, that's how they thought it worked. In truth, it appears to be magic capable of distorting reality itself. But by the time they realized this was the case, they had already begun the process of rescuing others from similar worlds using that very same magic.
Until they find the means of resuming the flow of time back in your home world, you'll just have to make due with this one. But not to worry, because Nippon is fully committed to taking care of the refugees!
A Place to Call Home Tokyo, Kanto
Once orientation is over, characters will be given one of three options for housing. Housing will be paid by the government of Nippon until they decide to move elsewhere, with NRL providing a stipend for food expenses.
In lieu of providing transportation, all refugees will be granted an unlimited rail pass that they can use to travel all across Nippon!
But it seems there's something weird about Tokyo this month...
For those living in Nihonbashi, they'll find the bridge practically covered in... cats? Or at least, they look like cats. In reality, the entire district has become overrun with nekomata, a type of ayakashi that possesses cats, causing their tail to split into two. While harmless during the day, those hoping to go outside at night will find the creatures have seeming quadrupled in size, perched atop lightposts and fences and watching. While they seem to remain peaceful, it's definitely eerie, and the Samurai Guards have their hands full escorting people safely across the bridge.
Over in Little Edo, things are far less peaceful. Curses, it seems, are on the rise this month. Most recently: the rivers have become practically flooded with kaoseki, their human-like faces staring up at passerbys as they try to cross. Signs have been placed warning people not to touch them, as those who fail to heed that warning may end up with a week of facial paralysis.
And finally, over in Yoshiwara, things are... pretty normal, actually? But there is one things residents are sure to notice: it seems all the brothels in the district have switched to using a new variety of incense provided by the neighboring region of Chubu. The smell is far stronger than their usual aphrodisial blends, and seems to be having an odd effect on people. Rather than invoke feelings of arousal, it seems to be invoking deep, deep feelings in general. While none of the supernatural things occurring around town will be happening in Yoshiwara, you might just find yourself feeling moodier than usual, manifesting Kizuna effects at the drop of a hat.
NRL Time Refugee Support Network
Once they've received their housing assignment, all refugees will be given small handheld devices called magi-tech comms, or magi-comms for short. They're heavier than a conventional smartphone would be, but far sturdier, and powered by the ambient magic that flows through the city. They don't need to be charged, but they won't work outside of cities at all. Upon booting it up, they'll find a message linking them to a special channel for refugees.
#nrl_time_refugee_support - online
Just as the linked "website" states, once a character clicks the provided link, they'll find a message on the network seemingly posted under their name, stating exactly what was on their mind twenty-three minutes earlier. Clicking the link again will repeat this process infinitely, but it will not work if shared by anyone else. Did you know magical computer viruses exist?? Because apparently magical computer viruses exist.
(As a note, this prompt has been edited so it displays without a need to scroll within the dialogue box itself, since the scrollbar didn't appear on all browsers!)
Use the following code for your top-level if you'd like! This is how network communication will look for characters in the game until more advanced magi-tech comms become available for characters.
What Lurks Down Below

Those who visit Nihonbashi often enough may be curious about the streets that run below the massive bridge that makes up the entire district. There's no clear way to get down there, despite the fact that people can clearly be seen moving about their lives on the lower streets. But that's all about to change.
During the first week of March, large signs will be placed around Nihonbashi indicating the subtle entrances located here and there that lead to the lower district in question: Shitaya, the lowlands of Tokyo. Once considered the heart of the city, the ever growing Nihonbashi soon overtook the entire district, forcing developers to move underground instead. The result is a complex network of underground tunnels, some more refined than others.
While the citizens of Shitaya generally keep to themselves, right now, they have a reason for wanting visitors to stop by. Because maybe if it comes from someone in the upper districts, their recent concerns will be taken more seriously.
A Thorny Situation Shitaya, Tokyo
On the upper levels of Shitaya, sitting just below the bridge that makes up Nihonbashi, is a vast network of waterways and city streets. To cross these water ways, both manned and unmanned boats sit docked at the end of each street, ready to ferry people across who need it. But it seems the streets are even more chaotic than usual right now.
Looking out across one of the major waterways, strange vine-like plants can be seen coiling over the water. But unlike other vines, these are more than just a mere plant: they're tsutsumi-bara, a type of plant-like ayakashi that takes the form of a creeping vine covered in painfully sharp barbs. They're known for growing unnaturally fast, particularly in wet areas lacking in sunlight. But even for tsutsumi-bara, these ones are particularly aggressive. Large walls of thorny vines appear to be intentionally blocking streets, and even trapping boats in the water, creeping over the edge to coil around the passengers. While the citizens of Shitaya have pleaded with the samurai guards for reinforcements, for some reason, it seems they aren't being taken very seriously. Of course, those whose grew up in similar slums might understand why.
In any case, the few guards who do show up could certainly use some help. The vines are easily cut, stopping their growth. But with the roots settled underwater, they'll just keep coming back. And anyone whose been snared will need medical attention to get the tiny barbs of the thorns out of their skin. If not immediately removed the barbs will break off and travel up the bloodstream, causing chest pain and a sharp pain when breathing out. A Yokai is capable of performing a spell to draw the barbs out, but given how few live in Tokyo, it may be a bit of a wait before the few volunteers living in Shitaya can treat them.
Ordinarily, invasive tsutsumi-bara are extremely rare in cities... did something happen to cause this?
Flowers of Evil Shitaya, Tokyo
Even after the vines have been dealt with, something still seems very odd about the district of Shitaya. Monks garbed in robes with their faces hidden by a wide-brim hat can be seen walking around the district, giving prayers to each individual shop, and setting strange talismans around particular streets and corners. If asked-- they'll say a strange presence has entered Tokyo through the waterways, and they're working to keep it from spreading. "This world contains a great many things we can't explain. Of those most dangerous... beware the ayakashi, lest they curse you or your loved ones. Tell me... can you see the flowers?"
The monk then points out towards the water, where patches of strange red flowers have begun to bloom along the side of the canal. Or at least-- some people will see the flowers. Only those who have witnessed someone die will be able to see them, and should they inform the monk that they can, he'll give them a warning: something bad is going to happen in Tokyo soon.
Much like the tsutsumi-bara, these are no ordinary flowers. They're blooms produced by the higanbana ayakashi, whose true body rests far underground. And while they're typically harmless, seeing them is considered a bad omen. Specifically: they warn those who see them that they'll be witnessing another death very soon.
The monk will provide anyone who talks to him a special talisman that wards off ayakashi curses -- but he warns that they're only effective against passive curses, such as those caused by the higanbana. If they piss off an ayakashi and get cursed for it, they're unfortunately on their own.
Culture Wars Shitaya, Tokyo
It doesn't take long to realize that Tokyo is clearly not the beautiful and peaceful city it presented itself as. Walking just a bit further down will reveal Shitaya to be Tokyo's slums, with makeshift housing crowded around the entrances of various tunnels. But it's not all just housing -- there's businesses down here as well, and those running them seem rather tickled that people from the upper levels have come down to explore. But even so, there's a sense of apprehension as well, uneasy about their motivations for coming down here.
But as many are sure to quickly pick up on, almost all of the residents of Shitaya look like Yokai. But they aren't: they're Hanyo, half-human, half-yokai hybrids who look similar to Yokai, but without a natural aptitude for magic. If asked, they'll explain that many of them are refugees as well, who fled the Western Kingdom after experiencing heavy discrimination. While some manage to learn enough magic to hide their Hanyo heritage, others aren't so lucky, and seek out a new life in the Eastern Kingdom instead. One shopkeeper muses out loud, "Perhaps if more people like you come into this country, things might change for the better someday?"
Of course, as easy as it is to think of this district as gloomy, the people here are far from it. With so many immigrants from the West, many have brought their culture with them as well, including a rather popular game called Kabe-Skate. Taking place in a tunnel that's been carefully carved to resemble the inside of a pipe, two competitors don roller skates to see who can reach the goal first -- the goal in question being a short flag attached to the ceiling, requiring a high enough speed to circle up the walls without falling. Given the tunnel isn't very long, they'll have to make tight turns to avoid crashing whenever they reach one end, all without losing speed or running into their opponent.
Of course, crashing might actually be the main draw for the game itself, as that seems to be what the crowd of on-lookers most excited. At least they provide a helmet?
OOC Notes
Welcome to Jikan's March TDM! The TDM is considered game canon, and also serves as the intro log! That said, whether you choose to carry threads over to the game or not is up to you!
• Current players are more than welcome to top-level, or take prompts from the TDM and use for their own logs! This may change in the future depending on how busy TDMs become.
• CRAU characters may start regaining their CRAU memories one month after the TDM. However, vague feelings of familiarity are allowed between previous game CR! For more on this, please read the FAQ!
• You do not need to sign-up for housing! Choose whichever style you prefer. Roommates can be chosen by the characters or can be random. If you want to switch housing later, your character has the option of moving at the beginning of each month.
• More information on the ayakashi mentioned in this log can be found on the Flora and Fauna page!
• A friendly Inu Yokai is available to appear in any thread involving the removal of Tsutsumi-bara barbs. The process involves a chant and specific hand motions to guide the barbs out through an open wound. Characters may be sore for a few days afterward.
• Thanks to the monk's talisman, characters who see the higanbana ayakashi will not be effected by the ayakashi's curse. However, should they look at the flowers without receiving a talisman, they'll witness a death anytime within the next week, be it a car accident, a speeding ambulance that suddenly slows down, or someone drowning in the canal.
Please leave any questions about the TDM prompts in the thread below! General game questions can be directed to the FAQ!

Ike Atalanta | Original
It's-- It's not just me, right? This street is... really uncomfortable!
[Ike is standing at the entrance of a street in Little Edo, upon which almost every corner is occupied by a kaoseki, the various faces frozen in all sorts of unsettling expressions. Did someone carve all of these?? Thanks, he hates it!!]
[He turns to the peron next to him, who has been going in the same direction since leaving the NRL -- so they must be a refugee, too. Maybe they won't mind going with him to check out all the housing areas before they pick one?]
Do you think maybe another neighborhood would be less... creepy?
2 | The Quest for a Western-style Toilet | OTA

3 | Garden Hero | OTA
[Ike was still getting his bearings here, but after being stared down by a few very intense looking cats, he finds himself descending into Shitaya. It feels a little sad, somehow. Like pictures he's seen of the war zones in Leiyata, homes built out of anything people can find because everything else was reduced to rubble. He can't help but feel a little out of place, wondering if this was really a place to be acting like a tourist-- when he hears people screaming.]
[A large wall of vines has appeared in one of the streets, wrapping around the leg of an elderly man who didn't get away in time. Without a second thought, Ike dashes forward -- not even wincing as he grabs one of the vines and starts trying to uncoil it from the man's leg. Curiously, he doesn't even wince, but that may have something to do with the fact that his hand appears to be covered in bandages.]
H-Hey! Someone help me move him away-- these things are really moving!
4 | Flowers of Evil | OTA
[Thankfully, Ike happened upon one of the monks, allowing him to receive the talisman necessary to counteract the higanbana's curse. Still, the idea of a flower that can only be seen by those who have witnessed death...]
[He clutches the talisman in his hand as he looks out across the water, where the flowers are blooming. That spot... he's sure of it, that's where the old man he helped earlier had fallen. Hopefully he was all right.]
You can see them, too... right?

Matthias Bellflower | Original | I'll match prose or brackets :)
Nihonbashi
During the day, the nekomata seemed like the usual type. It wasn't the first time Matthias had encountered them though. So they were easy enough to handle, even at night when they grew in size and seemed to unnerve some of the people crossing the bridge. So far, they seemed to do nothing untoward but that didn't stop Matthias from frowning a little. He never really liked these kinds of cats, generally because depending on the kind they could be very cruel and that was just no fun at all. Still, there was nothing for it. Matthias was not a combative witch and even less of a combative cat.
So, he allowed himself to help the Samurai Guard with escorting people in the evening and sometimes even offering tea to both pedestrians and guards alike. Matthias certainly didn't mind, especially when he found that many of his herbal teas could be made with the herbs here. This Gaia was a lot like Earth in many ways, so Matthias was very keen on getting things started once more.

souji okita | kaze hikaru
[ all of this is so scary, much easier to understand if it were nothing but a dream. however, what the eye could see, what the touch could feel, what the hunches could sense, everything shows to be quite real. he feels safe in his new acquired home for starters, amazed by the technology in nihonbashi, a place too modern that would seem western from the stories alike he once heard from yamanami and the hogen; the nekomata granted his first fright by the sight of them not looking like normal cats hanging around so casually. little edo is what he remembers from his own edo, from kyoto even, with the warning of not stepping onto the kaoseki which look creepier than the nekomata. this is no good. had he entered a spiritual version of his own world?
if possible, souji will stick to what he knows from such districts at the moment, offering his own piece of assistance to the natives that need protection from the nekomata until late hours. ]

[ must it count for someone like him to not only witness a death but be part of it? twice? or as many times? there's no shame in that as he did his duty. nevertheless, the reminder when watching the red flowers as two lives were taken by and dear to him is disturbing in itself, with talisman and all, doesn't make it mild. curses and ghosts frighten him more than the possible threat of a blade on his neck. ]

Ranpo Edogawa | Bungo Stray Dogs
[The strange scent in the air doesn't pass Ranpo's notice. It feels different than the tingly feeling feeling given off by the usual incense these shops pump into the streets. He's a little wary about breathing it in, but seeing as he needs to take this street to get back to the dorms, he doesn't have much choice.]
[Unfortunatey, Ranpo hasn't been having the best month as of late, and has been feeling a little lonely. And while on a normal day, he might just sulk and indulge in his favorite snacks-- thanks the incense, his reaction is far more extreme.]
[Which is why anyone headed to the dorm is going to see the extremely sad sight of a cat-boy detective sitting under a nearby tree, a small rain cloud over his head as he appears to be (poorly) hiding the fact that he's crying. Honestly, it almost looks like the kizuna is mocking him, given it's typically capable of putting people in a good mood...]
2 | A Thorny Situation | OTA
[Ranpo's peeked around Shitaya before, though this is his first time really entering the district proper. It's not like he can't tell something strange is going on. And his suspicions are only confirmed when he sees the tsutsumi-bara rising out of the water. And of course this had to happen while he was taking a boat across the water.]
[But he wasn't alone. And while a few of the adults on board take their chances jumping off to swim away, a child on their way to school is trapped onboard -- prompting Ranpo to quickly shield them as the vnes start to overtake the boat. He eyes dart around quickly as he takes in the situation, the direction of the vines, the movement of the water-- and then he turns, yelling to the alarmed crowd on the other side of the waterway.]
Hey!! Someone over there with a sword-- cut the vines just below the water where you're standing! They're coming from a grate under the dock!
[Hopefully they act soon, because those vines around already starting to coil over Ranpo's back, the sharp thorns all too easily cutting through the fabric of his coat.]
3 | Flowers of Evil | OTA
[By the time Ranpo happens upon the flowers, the monk has already moved on to another street. And while he sees thse talismans hanging around various corners, it doesn't occur to him to pick one up.]
[Still, even without an explanation, those flowers are unsettling. Especially given where they're growing, jutting out of a crack in the concrete in a spot he knows was barren just an hour ago.]
Those flowers... you can see them too, right? Do you think they're real?

Osamu Dazai | Bungo Stray Dogs | OTA
[This isn't the strangest situation Dazai has found himself in in his entire life. No, no, there were many qualifiers for that. This was maybe in the top 5, but maybe not. Kunikida would say that the strangest situation was when he had quite firmly declared his inevitable demise would be being buried in concrete, and not only that, but to do it in a pleasant way everyone could enjoy. Maybe they could build an orphanage over him.
He'd slept in the middle of an empty lot for the night. Kunukida had finished that situation by picking him up the next morning and explaining to him that it would actually be painful to suffocate in that way, and he'd agreed.
But there were going to be some disappointed orphans on Christmas that year. He had never told that story to Atsushi, mostly because he felt it would be insensitive, but that was a special one.
ANYWAY.
He was listening to the explanation quietly, taking mental stock of the situation. At least from what he gathered, there was no concern about time being wasted here. He had all the time in the world to waste. So. May as well make the best of it. He stretched, and once that was over, he turned to the person next to him.]
Long speech, wasn't it? I feel that coulda been more abrupt. A simple 'you're stuck here, but it's okay, because time stopped, so hey. We'll tell you when that's fixed.' Not the whole to-and-fro about the logistics, you know?
[it was tiring to listen to!]
Virus
NoLongerHuman: It's illogical to worry about what anyone's doing. But I haven't seen anyone, and...I don't know. I'm going to miss Kunikida yelling at me and Atsushi's voice, I guess.
NoLongerHuman: Not the best time to grab me, either. But time's frozen, so it doesn't matter.
NoLongerHuman: Just hide it with all the rest of the trauma right up here warm and snuggly..
NoLongerHuman: bored bored bored bored bored
Roses Are Red
[It wasn't until he learned what the flowers appearing meant that they truly bothered him. It meant you'd seen someone die. Ah. Well. Dazai had bitten his tongue, almost tempted to ask if the number made them more vibrant or duller. More visible. If so, then he'd practically be in line to make a good living as a florist.
He put his hands in his jacket pocket, and he let out a long sigh, looking down, his eyes closed, a grim smile on his face.]
If both sides are the same...become a good man.
[He opened his eyes, touching one of the flowers.]
Is this what you are now?
...
Did I do it?
[he paused...before laughing.]
You can't answer me. I'd play loves me, loves me not for a response, but I feel like that'd be impolite. Just...know that I tried. I'm trying. I don't know what good is. I just...am. You knew.
...
Will I ever truly figure it out, I wonder...
[He turned away, only to see someone behind him. Oh. Immediately, he was smiling again like nothing happened.]
Oh, hey. Flowers are everywhere today. Guess that's the magic of springtime. Be careful, if you've got allergies.

Life is full of injustice isn't it? Just because of something you do not choose, the world treated you a certain way. Look at those people outside, just giving up. You know, to get attention - you gotta go extreme. Set an example. Get the fear. Isn't it boiling in your blood? That hatred towards the guard who knocked you down?
[Izaya lets out a small knife towards the Hanyo. If someone is there, please stop this psych to do unimaginable things.]
Say, tell me what your heart truly desires.
[The Hanyo man slowly reaches out to Izaya, as if he agrees to what Izaya says.]

Setsura Light née Yamaguchi | Original
Business or company, that sort of thing, and she's had so much of the former since she walked through that door, then gained time.
But today is different and those signs, new things that they are and catching not only to her eyes but those of her highly informative familiars about, stir her curiosity finely. No sooner than she gets a break from work -- and the Hanzaki have been refreshingly busy lately -- does she purchase some anpan to snack on along the way. A pitch black sparrow descends and claims a perch atop her shoulder as she heads to explore with a hop and too quick steps taken in the quiet comfort of shadows and the dark and it's to them that she keeps even after arriving in Shitaya proper, eyes and ears supernaturally keen and open.
What she finds is the sort of chaos she breathes easier in a setting so familiar that it takes her back. A person with sense doesn't forget her roots, after all, and she offers the bird atop her shoulder a small piece of bread with that quiet thought, then slips the sleepy little thing tucked in her collar its own.
Was there a reason those signs were posted outside, then? Shitaya's people didn't advertise the entrances before and there's tension in the air.
People hurrying to and fro, a child being warned away from the water ways, there's some heated conversation happening down the way between a guard and -- and vines climbing, spilling over one of the nearby docks, causing what locals had been on it to jump into a boat or run the length of it in the hopes of avoiding the things.
A conversation or three during which she finishes up that bread and she's got more than enough for a detailed cursory report and a request -- ]
I. A THORNY SITUATION
[ -- a request the Hanzaki grant.
Straightaway, she'd gone and thrown the doors open to report the ayakashi problem in Shitaya and ask for permission to get to work about it. She'd been met with a quietly pleasant surprise, too. It was entirely possible, after all, that they'd turn their nose up given the problem was in the slums, but that hadn't been the case at all. Rather, the individual she was speaking with had been frustrated they couldn't help more and... said something rather curious, really.
It isn't as though Setsura hadn't noticed the change in foot traffic, but to hear that something "big" was happening elsewhere, causing the Hanzaki's numbers to be stretched thin... of course, she'd wanted to ask for more details. The tsutsumi-bara appearing at the same time as so many kaoseki and nekomata in Little Edo and Nihonbashi respectively seems too coincidental to her given her experiences with the beings of her own world, but for the moment, all she can do is what she can do.
And what she can do is get to work addressing the tsutsumi-bara problem in Shitaya, so she does.
She's a small, dark thing that keeps to shadows and darkness as she walks with force and purpose through the streets of Shitaya. With her familiars at work high in the skies and years of experience behind her in similar operations, she's fast and efficient in hunting down the vines. Between the blade she summons to her, the expansive property of the wind element, the distance it allots her, and her previous experience working in tight, populated environments, it's nothing but a matter of learning just how to trim Shitaya's particular problematic hedges. ]
(I-)A. WELL, EXCUSE ME, PRINCESS!
Found you!
[ Setsura exclaims in approach not of the person in front of her, but the newly encroaching wall of tsutsume-bara blocking the street ahead of her. Of course, that might be difficult to tell at first save for the fact that she's most assuredly looking past them. She does pause, however, eyes subtly scanning this bystander that hasn't left the area despite that messy looking encroachment. ]
You aren't hurt, are you?
[ Because if there's one thing Setsura is not, it's a healer, but she's generally plenty strong enough to carry a person to find one if necessary despite being five feet, two inches. Suffice to say she's been carrying a lot of people today between trimming Shitaya's unfortunate hedges. ]
II. FLOWERS OF EVIL
[ She sticks around even after the the vines are dealt with. The locals, guards, and her familiars have reported no new growths in some time and she's asked, but she still feels uneasy and... well, curious. Having been busy with work, she hadn't been able to walk Shitaya and really look at the place and talk to the people properly about things, but if anything, sitting perched atop one of the few barrels spared the ayakashi's vines beside this particular dock, she's certain those flowers weren't there before.
She doesn't hop down just yet, though. No, she continues to stare quietly, intently at the strange patches of beautiful red flowers. Another strange thing showing up, hm? ]
Now when did you get here?
III. CULTURE WARS
[ It isn't her Tokyo. Setsura has reminded herself of that fact on numerous occasions since she arrived stepped through the door and into this "Nippon". It isn't her Tokyo, but it isn't that awful Prismatica and there are certain cautions she should exercise in interacting with this world and its denizens. Those familiar notes may be a comfort, but comfortable familiarity can be dangerous as well.
Still, she walks and talks and asks questions of the locals. She spends money in the shops, too, but especially when she spies a curious variant of some food item. Business breeds an appetite that isn't entirely bothered as she converses with the locals and learns more and more that sounds familiar. Discrimination against hanyo, hm? Color her unsurprised, unamused, and... outspoken in that way of hers.
It isn't a secret she's a hanyoukai, after all, and that sort of discrimination was old to her in the sixties when she stepped out of Tamamura and looked the wide world in the eye. ]
(III-)A. SAME SONG, DIFFERENT UNIVERSE
[ Perhaps you'll find her talking candidly with a shopkeep surrounded by much friendlier faces than you've seen down this way. That is, before she takes her leave.
Stretching, she caps a little yawn as she puts her feet to the street again, musing idly to herself as she considers what she's learned. ]
I guess some things really don't change between worlds.
(III-)B. HOW HIGH?
[ Later, in a more open area, all five feet, two inches of Setsura stands surrounded by even shorter, smaller hanyo kids. They aren't asking her to show them magic. No, they're all excited and crying "me next, me next" in that way children do.
Why?
Well, if you happen to look up, you might notice a child riding what appears to be a gust, rapidly descending into Setsura's waiting arms in a fit of giggles. For her part, if you happen to know her, Setsura herself looks a little easier than she usually does. ]
One at a time now! One at a time.
[ She laughs and pauses, turning her eyes on newly present company. The kids turn to look as she quirks a brow, the corners of her mouth tugging upward. ]
What? Did you want a turn, too?

Dionysus | Hades game
Settling in is going a little bit more difficult for Dionysus than he expected, and not for the usual reasons the scientists usually encounter. While Greece had many advancements and wonders, Nippon is... quite a deal more technical than the Olympian god is used to. He doesn't really care for it much, though television is something that has fascinated him. While archiac to some people, the black and white screens are nothing but amazing to him.
He hasn't quite embraced the local style of dress yet, so the god of wine was still dressed in his usual loose robe, sandals, and cape of leopard skin as he stands staring into a shop from the street in Yoshiwara. The tv is more for the entertainment of the staff between customers over the entertainment of street passers, but Dionysus can't help but notice them when wandering through the city.
"Huh, how do you think, you know, they make the pictures move?"
Network
winedad: Well, if they didn't want people eating the food, then they shouldn't have offered!
winedad: how do you make this stop making noise?
A Thorny Situation
At first, Dionysus thought there might have been an errant nymph or goddess messing with him. Sudden growths of vines weren't something unusual for him to run into-- he's capable of such things himself --but as he walked undetered through the streets towards a boat, a kind citizen had stopped him to warn him of the dangers of the tsutsumi-bara.
"Harshing my groove a bit here," he says, mostly to himself, as he watches a vine coil and begin to block off the path he was walking through.
He turns around, intending to just make his way back the opposite direction, but vines begin to snake their way to cut him off that way too.
Wildcard
[ Dionysus is fairly technologically inept, used to not wearing much clothes, and constantly being drunk. He is, however, very used to 'magic' and superstitions. Have at it! ]

Xiao | Genshin Impact
[ Sure he’s been here for a bit though tended to keep to himself.
As of late, Xiao had taken to watching people from rooftops and the same went for the bridge. The cats were new but he knew enough that they were not normal ones, what with the tail and the aura they gave off but it was at night that he’d seen the most notable change. Not only did they get larger in size, but they required a sort of bowing ritual or there would be consequences.
On the second night, when there really isn’t many people around and one of the nekomata is perched on a nearby fence close to the bridge? That’s when he took his chance and ventured close, and the creature hopped down to greet him, bowing it’s head. He in turn gave a proper bow right back and that seemed to satisfy it.
They were probably super intimidating to most people, and here he was, walking up to this horse-sized cat and while it seemed cautious at first? It didn’t lash out at him, though it’s tails swished back and forth. When he didn’t appear to be a threat, it allowed him to reach out and pet it’s head gently and there was a soft look on his face for a few moments as it seemed to like what he was doing.
Sometime after this? Anyone passing by could see him sitting on the ground near the fence where the Nekomata is standing guard, as if he were keeping it company. ]
Flowers of Evil
[ It set his nerves on edge a bit, having been in Shitaya and eventually catching word of a monk speaking to another person about a strange presence having entered. He’d just been passing by, hesitating when the monk had asked the other person if they could see flowers as when he cast a gaze over towards the canal?
There were so many red flowers, it was like the color of blood.
He barely caught the words of the other person speaking with the monk, aware of the fact they said they could see them too. Xiao’s entire body froze, head bowed as the monk’s last words rang around in his mind.
Those who see these flowers will witness another death soon ]
...So it really has followed me here, then.
[ Slowly he walked up towards the canal and knelt down, a hand reaching out as if to try and touch it before shaking his head. ]
People are going to die here… because I allowed myself to become too complacent…
Culture Wars
[ Archons above. He didn’t know how he got here but he’d found his way to where they were holding that ‘game’ and so many people were all excited even though people were crashing into each other trying to get to that thing at the top. ]
Tch. What exactly about this is to be entertaining?
[ Really. He doesn’t get it. ]

Ichimatsu Matsuno | Osomatsu-San
[This was wonderful for someone with crippling anxiety as things were. You know, going out of the house was already an adventure in itself, but now he was in another dimension. He was alone in another dimension, and their whole deal was 'sorry, you're not going home for a while. Oopsies!'
This had him vaguely staring into the distance for a few good seconds, not even picking up on what was being said before he snapped back into things and rapidly started making mental notes. Alright...it's still Japan. That's a starter. No language barrier. Good. It's different, but it's at least the same in some regard. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully.
He gets up after they're done, and okay, he's going to get a place to live, some money...and a stiff drink. He doesn't even usually like alcohol that much, but he needs it right now. And then while thinking it over, he bumps into someone.
And it's like a sharp burst of tinnitus goes through his head through anxiety overload alone. EEEEEeeeeEEEEEEEEeeeeeEEEEE...]
...Sorry.
[he shifts awkwardly on his feet. oops.]
Nihonbashi
[Did he say he hated this place? ...That was a lie. This was clearly a great place. This entire location was full of cats, and it was the sensation of FINALLY, AN ALIEN PLANET WEIRD THING FOR ME! So he was utterly stunned when he first got there, which turned into glancing back and forth, which turned into...him just sitting on the bridge, surrounded by nekomata.
This is his element. He is one of them now. He's completely distracted, but he is kind of staring seemingly emotionlessly at anyone who passes by. He looks dead inside.
(Actually, this is the most alive he's ever been, it's just no one would notice that.)]
Flowers
[Ichimatsu had always been superstitious, to a certain extent. He placed his horse racing bets based on random happenstance in his life before he got there - I saw two cats on my way, so number two will win - he took his own birth order as a bad omen (4th born, of course), amongst other things.
So when he was told about the supernatural happenings, yeah, okay, he was pretty shaken. And he was clutching onto that talisman for dear life, because oh, yeah, great. He doesn't even remember who he saw die. It could've been anything, knowing his complicated life, and he's not sure if it includes animals that passed away, but that very well could be it too. He's now walking along the street like he himself is trying to avoid punishment for a crime, his shoulders hunched up, his breathing unsteady.
What was he going to do? Just...get out of there. Stay out of anyone's way, he supposed. That is, until he encountered some flowers that hadn't been cut yet.
Of course.
He looked at them, and he swore under his breath, and he spun around, only to see someone else turn the corner. He froze for a moment, before he finally spoke up.]
This way's hopeless. Sorry. If you're trying to leave....another path is better. I don't know one, though...

Tezzeret beat him soundly, but removed his etherium arm and gave it to Ral as a proof of a kill so they wouldn't chase him anymore. Ral is arriving still carrying this arm -- which basically looks mostly like a skeleton arm made of metal. So feel free to remark on that for the first couple of prompts.

Shirota Mahiru | Servamp
[ One minute? He’d been back with Gear and Youtarou. The next?
Something had went wrong. It was like he was repeating that same moment, watching Kuro as he devoured that rose and he grew into that large beast, Gear’s words still ringing about in his head. By the fourth time it’d seemed impossible to ignore and it was more than a bit alarming, though just as he prepared himself to say something, a door appeared.
Mahiru had given it a glance and then over at Kuro before shaking his head and moving to open the door.
Dealing with the scientists, medical staff and psychiatrists was a bit of a hassle all the same, but he complied because what reason did he have to not do so? Eventually there was an explanation and it had him feeling a bit frustrated despite understanding it. At a time like this, it was bad because so many people depended on him and even with them saying that time wouldn’t resume, it hadn’t stopped him from worrying about Kuro and what would happen should time resume and he wasn’t back immediately.
Looking over to the person next to him, Mahiru just offered a smile as focusing on something else was better than lingering too long with his own thoughts. ]
It’s a little bit much to process all at once, but I think we’ll be fine. They’ll get us back soon enough.
Faces in the Water
[ Uh. Okay. This was a thing, apparently.
Honestly. Mahiru had been intending to just go and check out the places around here since it seemed like it was all stuck in old-time Japan which was really strange. He had actually thought it was kind of interesting, like he’d been pulled back in time, though there was some technological developments that hadn’t been there, surely.
What caught him off guard was his time in Little Edo. The place and people were incredibly nice, but the weird THINGS in the water were a bit much. ]
Is that supposed to be normal or am I seeing things?? Please tell me it’s the last one..
[ God. He’s seen some things already in his time but this was just kind of unsettling. ]
Network
mahiru07: A somewhat tall guy with silver hair, red eyes and comes off really lazy at times. His name’s Kuro!
mahiru07: Please let me know if anyone’s seen him around!
mahiru07: I wonder what those cats on the bridge eat? Maybe I can make something for them later..
mahiru07: Huh? I never typed that. What’s going on?
A Thorny Situation
[ It took some time before he ended up here but all the same, it wasn’t as if this was necessarily a bad place. Much better than the place that had the weird faces on the rocks. He really hadn’t expected all the weird vines that suddenly popped up, blocking one of the streets without warning.
Such even became a problem once some of them started snaking out towards some unsuspecting people nearby. Mahiru didn’t even so much as hesitate as he ran forwards, materializing his spear and cutting them off before they could reach the people, but he didn’t stop there and swiped the weapon across the wall of vines. Which shredded them and they fell to the ground, and he turned to look at the people here with him after he was done. ]
That was close. Are you okay?
