A rope or chain tether is a solid no for going into his world, but he'll be willing to be tethered to someone if they want to go to their world instead.
When the power goes out, he's going to keep warm by keeping active, and maybe gathering wood for a small fire for cooking. He is more active at night than during the day as a general rule of thumb.
For the party, he will go, but remain the stalwart wallflower... and he'll be giving those cranes a wide berth because decorations hanging in doorways remind him too much of mistletoe and he will not be caught under that. Other people being affected and coming to him, however, is still very much on the table, though surprise smooches will be met with much tsunning.
