[In fairness, his reaction is shared by those not considered Archons too. Historians in particular tend to frown upon such broad strokes.]

It is probably unhelpful, but I wouldn't worry. From what I know of people, even if the stories of one's origins become skewed, those who follow them faithfully will never really die off. As you say - history is full of embellishments.

[Hers, he thinks, less than others.]

Ah... that has more to do with them. Academics have a tendency to find fault with all other theories on a subject beyond their own - though they can respect the most common ones. Anything else, no matter the breadth of your own interest, is laughable or foolish. For example--

I was having a conversation with a handful of historical academics, who posited the question: As Rex Lapis is the originator of Mora, what did he do with the very first coin he ever made? Many believe that he would have kept it as some sort of keepsake, and still others suggested he had it turned into something else altogether.

For me, that has always seemed rather... silly. For a man whose idea of "Mora" was to create a simple trading system that would allow for a prosperous economy, I rationalised that the first Mora was probably simply spent in the normal course of customs. They simply... disagreed with the very idea. Quite loudly, as I recall.
