[Diluc's attention is decidedly not on Malleus, though he isn't unaware of the way that the gentleman is observing him. The boat continues a slow descent into the water and the other occupants continue sounding their alarm while Diluc - and Malleus, it seems - remain peculiarly calm about the entire affair.

He does shift his gaze over, however, when he realises that Malleus is approaching one of the coils weighting the boat down. When he zaps it and it loosens its hold, Diluc's focus shifts over to him entirely. At least it seems they are of the same mind as far as this creature is concerned - if it wanted to actually hurt them then surely it would have just snapped the boat into pieces immediately? The limbs it has wrapped around it look strong enough to manage such a feat with ease.]

Magic? [He still hesitates to draw his claymore, but the fire in his hand doesn't go out and he holds it close to the nearest scaly tentacle until the heat prompts a sudden and swift withdrawal of yet another limb trying to pull the boat under.] No, not exactly.

[The boat shudders. One of the other passengers shouts in alarm and jumps into the water.]
