Sephiroth is staring at the petals he captured in his hand. They answered him before. Will they grant him another wish? Another chance with Genesis? At the back of his mind flash other familiar faces: Angeal, Zack, even people like Tseng and Lazard. Really, in this strange land Sephiroth is seeking familiarity and though what he really wants are those few he actually cares about, just about anyone will do.

Which is why he isn't entirely surprised when the person who collides with him turns out to be Rufus Shinra.

"Hm. I wasn't expecting you." It's said with about as much emphasis as he ever musters.

Sephiroth assesses the man in front of him. Rufus looks different somehow. Older. Sephiroth immediately realizes what this means, and as is quickly becoming normal for him offers an addendum. "Do not fear. I am not that Sephiroth."

It doesn't occur to him at all that this is not a normal introduction. He thinks he's being direct and helpful.
