[ it's by chance that he finds himself boarding the train at the exact time it hits the final loop of the night. technology and trains, by extension, were something of a mystery to him, no matter that the old-timey nature of this world meant it wasn't as advanced as what they had back in his own world. he'd had little need of trains in his homeland, and with there being little to no rules concerning the practice of magic here - not that that would have stopped him anyway - it was a simple matter to just fly everywhere he wanted to be.
but nothing could beat the novelty of having others acknowledge him without fear or trepidation in their eyes. knowing that he could wander and he wouldn't be given a wide berth, that merchants and stall runners alike would call out to him on the street was an experience he didn't know he'd been missing until he'd met the prefect of the Ramshackle Dorm.
so, he'd wandered. occasionally Lilia or Silver would accompany him - usually both at the same time - but the increasing frequency of his outings meant that he usually did not wait for them to notice or did not inform them of his comings and goings. if they needed him, they would find him.
he is unsure how long he's been on the train at this point. it's still going, the view outside still the same cityscape he saw over the past few hours. he can only think that this world's magic has something to do with it, which by itself is fascinating enough if he weren't too busy being distracted by all the things inside the train.
perhaps you've caught Malleus considering a cat in the so named cat cafe at arm's length, locked in some kind of staring contest with it. maybe you've spotted him partaking of the different foods on offer, with varying reactions. perhaps you might even be able to spot him with a mask in hands, turning the flimsy thing around and around as though looking for something on it, or seated at a table in the maid cafe looking tellingly at the menu. his expression betrays his thoughts easily enough - he was expecting food. ]

[ if you are fortunate - or unfortunate - enough to find yourself in one of the small steamboats with the strange horned man, you can rest easy in knowing that he won't tip the boat over without due cause. for the most part he is content to just keep to himself, as is the norm. there is nothing particularly interesting about the trip save for the cities that are visible from deep beneath the water, and those are things that he can enjoy in peace.
however, there is still the presence of the great serpent ayakashi. regardless of whomever spots it first, Malleus is not inclined to look away.
therefore it shouldn't be much of a surprise when great, twisting coils emerge from the depths of the water to wind around the bow and stern of the boat, jolting the entire vessel with a strong flex of its muscles and sinking it a few inches. oh dear. ]
