Altair is a shadow mage that was stranded on Earth with his friends after their world was destroyed. Altair comes from a nomadic desert world with a steampunk-like noble hierarchy with an Egyptian flair. He was the first and only commoner to be chosen as a mage. The years he spent as an outsider among a vicious noble court because of that choice and the consequences of being a shadow mage have left him scarred and he is haunted by the dark choices he has made to protect his friends. He’s very secretive and distrusting, especially towards kindness. It’s safer to keep people away but he also desperately wants to be accepted so he ends up caring for more people than he should and he’s fiercely protective of them.
Game Plans: Altair isn't happy about getting stranded on another world again but he is overjoyed that he gets to see Arrakis again and he is mostly focusing on his friend's wellbeing. Arrakis always put everyone before himself and hid how troubled he really was, so now it is Altair's turn to return the favor and be there for him, whether he wants it or not.
He got his ryslig memories back and remembered Peace! He wants to be with her but he isn't used to being in a relationship or even living for himself for that matter, so he's worried he might mess it up but after losing her once he doesn't want to let the chance slip by again, even if he has no idea how to be a good enough boyfriend for her.
He is still curious why his magic is acting up but he is getting the hang of his new limitations and Arrakis and Peace are more important. He is also more shaken from his ryslig memories than he wants to admit and he will be looking for ways to distract himself from them, like fighting and painting. (hopefully not murder but he can go down that dark path again easily with the right push.)
Speaking of painting, I'm considering having him pursue his art here. He is a painter that favors abstract paintings, specifically abstract landscapes that paint the world in vibrant colors different from the natural world, like purple trees, etc.

People to fight with! Altair loves to fight and his sharp tongue tends to get him into trouble. He likes purposely riling people up so they will fight him, particularly arrogant rich people.
Nobles or rich people to torment. He hates nobles and he doesn't have to follow status rules anymore so he loves tormenting them.
He also has a really dark side that enjoys killing but he does his best to deny that part of him but it would be fun if someone found out about it.
He needs friends to balance his darkness and anger. He will act like he doesn't since friends just complicate everything but he needs them. He is very distrusting though so it takes a lot of persistence for him to warm up to people.
Fellow artists, he loves meeting other artists and he never had a chance to pursue his art back home.
