AND THEN HE WAS TURNED INTO A GHOUL who are cannibal people basically and... that... sucks a lot. Kaneki hates that ghoul part, but above all, he is SCARED of the ghoul part. He has to balance the fact that he is now forced to do something terrible and goes against what his mother taught him, and the fact that ghouls aren't the monsters he was also taught to believe. Though some still are and everything is a mess. Kaneki's life is full of suffering.

Kaneki is never truthful about what he feels or what he thinks, and he keeps all of that locked away because he can't bother others and he lacks self-esteem in every way. He has a lot of issues that he doesn't tackle down, he is incapable of making choices or even saying "no". ON THE OTHER HAND Kaneki is easily manipulated and makes some bad choices in life; I'm 100% okay with someone making use of that.
